Decanted for a couple hours. Immediate nose of tobacco, but disappeared after 30 or so minutes. Still dark red in the glass. Dusty ripe red fruit. Firm tannins, medium long finish. Surprisingly still lively for being 15 years old. Enjoyed quite a bit and wish I had more.

Time to drink up - this wine is as good as it's going to get (which is just fine). The wine has not improved over the last bottle some 8 or 9 months ago. It's good right now- if I had any left I wouldn't cellar it much longer.

It was good from the initial taste. Over the next couple of hours it got more complex and deeper in flavor. It's drinking well now, probably not too much more time left on it.

Last bottle, been a good run. The nose is beginning to develop tertiary characteristics, but the palate is shutting down. The real question is whether the wine is entering a dumb phase or drying out. The alcohol and extraction are somewhat noticeable on the back end, so that could be a factor. It'll be up to others to track the evolution in the future!

Decant 1 hour. With Stuffed shells and spinach salad. Still Cherry nose with leather and a hint of cedar. Lots of fruit left. Blackberries, cherry and currant with enough tannins left to keep it interesting to an extreme. Yet the fruit does not go away. Remarkable blend. Amazing what this winemaker did with this vineyard. Huge mistake by Iron Horse to walk away from the stills from the T Bar T ranch.

Initial tannins, but generally ready to drink. Bold fruit, good flavor but might be a little too sweet? Might be the alcohol. Reasonable finish. I must lament that Iron Horse no longer has this vineyard to source from.

Tannins a bit harsh at opening. After an hour drinking well. Good entry, nose of dark fruit with soft mouthfeel of mineral, leather and tobacco. But a short finish. Looking for more oak maybe?

Waited 3 years before revisiting this wine, and I'm glad I did.
This may be a Bordeaux blend, but it's 100% California in nature. Huge nose of extracted black brambly fruit, dark cherries, menthol. The extra time in bottle has helped the mouthfeel tremendously. Begins very supple with gobs of fruit followed by a hint of tannin and finishing with alcohol, sweetness and oak. Medium finish.
Drink now, don't see this getting any better.

Several hours in decanter, yet was a bit hot and alcoholic none-the-less. More approachable on day two. Deep red-purple in the glass. Nice nose of black round fruit, subtle tobacco, tar, and dark chocolate with some hints of peppers. Palate is broad with strong, stable tannin, and overall concentrated dark tones leaving little room from subtly and fruit. The day two tannin cooled down enough to allow enjoyment of the strong dark aspects. Not overly dimensional or complex.

This is drinking very well right now. It was the best of three Bdx-type blends on the evening. So much good stuff here--beautiful aroma and color, nice complexity, good balance between tannins and fruit. Excellent value---this could pass for a much more expensive wine. Highly recommend.

Best bottle yet. More floral and spicy aromas, a bit of earthiness this go around.--developing in bottle This on top of the cassis, licorice and coffee. Palate is still bright New World with tannin, fruit and acidity playing nicely together, high in intensity. There are some big tannins in the background that are more obvious as fruit recedes a bit. No hurry to drink the remaining bottles.

Still keeps chugging along, like the Iron Horse the winery is named after. There was still plenty of fruit showing in this bottle and was pitch perfect with lamb shank over a bed of mushroom grits on a serendipitous Wednesday night out with the Mrs.

This is just flat out delicious, Californian in the best way. A little savory, but largely about dark, fresh fruit. Chocolate, coffee and blackberry aromas. Dark fruit flavors with very refreshing acidity. Finishes with very soft tannin, great length and excellent freshness. Liked this a bit better than the last bottle as this one seemed a bit fresher.

Very well made New World Cab. Seems to have developed some porty aromas and blackberry liqueur qualities. Lots of cedar and anise too. Chocolate. Strong aromas bursting from glass. Silky and balanced palate. Sweet oak mid-palate, iron minerality. Seamless and integrated with spice and cedar on the finish. Nice acid/tannin balance, medium extraction. Was less into this bottle than last one due to seemingly less freshness.

Our last bottle of this wine ever, since it is no longer being made. Beautiful melange of red and sort of dark fruit on the nose. What warrants the two extra points over my previous score is the complexities that have shown up over the last 9 months. Soy sauce, earth, meat, and all in balance with the rich fruit character. The palate delivers on what the nose promises, with an excellent balance of fruit and complicating flavors. The tannins are definitely starting to calm down, so I think this is in a great place right now.

Good stuff. My palate seems to be changing, but I still like this. I'm a bit concerned that the last three bottles I got from UltraLuxe might be somewhat heat damaged, they're more muted than I recall... If I determine that to be the case I'll come back and tick the defective box.
I guess we've arrived at the end of this wine's life. I can't find a single bottle for sale anymore. I don't know whether to hoard my last few or polish them off in celebration.
Big leather and earth on the nose. Nice dark cherries in the mouth. Nice acid and balanced. This is what Bordeaux IS, IMHO.

The color of this wine is a shimmering garnet. The nose is somewhat closed with scents of Lilacs, cherries and a hint of tobacco. The taste is full of intense flavor ala red cherries, black cherries and plum with a hint of dark chocolate. This wine is fairly balanced but still his some soft tannins and acid to frame the fruit and bring about improvement over the next two to three years.

Outstanding New World Cab. Big effusive cassis on the nose. Coffee, roasted herbs, cedar and leather as well. Mouth coating viscosity, shows a hint of oak in all the right places. A sort of sweet berry flavor that dries out on the finish. Mouth watering and tannic, this oozes structure. Not over-extracted as many Cabs like this are, though, and none of the medicinal flavors often present. Long finish. Elegant yet powerful, and one that is worth following if you have more bottles.
