  • Fifteen years old and still in excellent shape! Masses of umami, liquorice, black olives, garrigue, roast beef and rust. Luckily, the black fruit doesn't show too much dried notes. On the palate rock solid, with smooth tannins, vivid freshness, outstanding concentration and length, and fully integrated alcohol and oak. Bottles kept in cool storage will surely continue to keep and develop for years.

  • Blåröda körsbär i glaset.
Doften säger - "Gott som fan"! Nypon? Gråsten? Svart vingummi? Lite återhållsam i tonerna på näsan.

Smakar Tegel, bra balans, grus i bakgrunden, stall, hög syra - mycket frukt.

Kanske fel att säga att den är helt balanserad, och vad det i så fall beror på - fler år ger än bättre balans? Men det är hur som helst väldigt gott och jag ser fram emot att öppna Jadis-flaskor med 10-15-års ålder framöver.

  • The nose and palate showed an elegant mix of dark fruits, roasted herbs and a touch of leather; There was a slight astringency on the finish, which was a touch clipped, that detracted from it somewhat, although this was still enjoyable

  • Good the first night with some good farm funk. Second night fantastic herbs and pepper, very enjoyable. Not sure if this is the peak, but it sure is good.

  • Starting to show development. Fruit is a bit dry, with lingonberries and sour cherry. Very elegant and light on the palate. Not sure if this will keep for very long - the fruit has lost quite some body and tertiary notes are only just starting.

  • Fantastic wine, now feels like it is in its prime. Full on leather, beef, pepper palate.

  • This is a beast - alive and wild! Big forward nose with evening lilacs, fired capgun, mashed black-cherry fruit, ground black pepper, heavy iron rust and earth. Abundant solid matter on the palate, big powerful syrah fruit, chewy tannins and piercing acidity. This is totally exciting and way out of the mainstream - the wine always makes us think of Neil Young & The Crazy Horse feedbacking their way through the Weld double album. Jadis 05 is still a youngster, and seems to have the build for another decade. Decanting is imperative, and the bottle needs to be left standing well beforehand.

  • Very different from the regular cuvee - it's much gamier - you can really taste the Syrah. Kind of drying on the end and just a little harsh.

  • This is a WOW wine. As others have put it - rock'n roll. Very high acidity, dancing in the mouth (think Riesling), lots of fine tannins, lots of intense blue fruit. Long. Decanting is absolutely necessary, lots of sediment.

  • I've kept my last bottle of this cool, well below 15 celsius. It pays off, because this is one special SOB. Serious fruit towards the darker side, sweet tannins, a minerality that jumps somersaults on my tongue, beautiful garrigue and herbs. The apple must is less prominent now, but the acidity is reeally good. The carignan part is so funky it makes madame Syrah dance in mysterious ways. I love this.

  • Belle bouteille, mais qui aurait mérité de vieillir encore quelques années.

  • A strong bitter taste with awful end that lasts forever and it feels like you have some kind of very bad chemical in your mouth. This is the worst case of damaged wine i ever tried. What is that?? I hope the other bottle is OK because i have high expectations on this one.

  • Nice funky first night as you'd expect but second night that same flat note I've seen on the 2004 which just ends up overpowering the wine.

  • deep, fruity, smoky... nice structure and good tannins supported by fresh acidity. Really good wine!

90+ pts

  • Deep and dark. More brooding than bruiser. Carignan fruit dominates flavor profile, with lots of spice and tar and a little funkiness upfront, over rocks and black pepper. Syrah adds plummy richness (and some more pepper) in the middle. Dark fruit, strong acids, lingering tail. I suspect this will change quite a lot over the next few years. Interesting and good QPR.

  • A surprisingly, light, bright, fresh feel. Nose leads with minor, positive, integrated farmyard; then red-cherry, drought-blackberry and profound sage-leaf. This is unusual, and interesting, without being hedonistic. Another attention-grabber is the exceptional length – flickering, as it does, with elegant acidity. The wine breathes to include yeast-extract, then plum-cherry jam and a little rubber. All this is a little academic though, because the acidity is really keeping this wine down at the moment. It needs 4 years to yield enough.

This reminds me of my first bottles of many French ‘05s (from Beaujolais onwards) in the apparent lightness, which was actually acidity hiding the concentration of the wines and their potential sense of breadth and flesh. The fruit is so clean in 2005s that an unprecedentedly high proportion of them really are going to gain from ageing. I’m certain this wine is in that camp; although for now it is just the patent/abstract class that is getting the 88 points over 87 for current consumption.

  • Very peculiar but interesting. Lots of volatility. Manure. Fresh red berries. Uncertain future.

  • Our first encounter with the newly released vintage of Jadis is a bottle from the domaine brought back to Sweden by plane. And this is sheer rock'n'roll in a bottle! Carignan makes up for half of the mix, and we get blueprint old-vine carignan fruit (supported by equal parts grenache and syrah) from rusty iron-coloured schisteous slopes. The obnoxious, brash nose brings dark cherry fruit, complete with gunpowder, black pepper, iron, cardamom and fermenting red apples. The taste has explosive qualities, with extremely vibrant acids, loads of ripe red and dark fruit, and lots of ammonium chloride and black pepper on the finish. Shows new aspects with every sniff and sip. This is wonder stuff, but absolutely needs an hour of air and shows its best on the second day after opening. Lots of unreleased potential for the future. Note: miniscule amounts of sulphites, so it's recommended to store below 15C.
