Davyd's birthday at Hotel Michael. Pop and poured. Drank over 1.5 hours. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, opaque ruby colour. Long legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of sweet baking spices, licorice, chocolate, coffee, dark plums, blackcurrant, earth, slight used leather. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (16%), integrated high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, blackberries, raisins, dark plums, licorice, cassis, sweet spices, mocha. Long finish. Very good quality. Slightly more evolved than the last time I tasted it. This is complex, but no doubt big wine, and has the Burgandian palate screaming "bloody murder!". This will drink well for another 5+ years easily. 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Touriga Nacional, 2.5% Petit Verdot.

Tasted blind. Pop and poured over dinner at Morganfields Suntec. Appearance is clear, deep ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of grilled herbs, spices, blackberries, cedar, slight earth and graphite/pencil lead with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (16%), fine high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, blackberries, dark plums, grilled herbs, spices, graphite/pencil lead, and cassis. Long finish. Very good quality. I guessed a medium-aged Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon from probably McLaren Vale. Has pronounced intensity but is nicely balanced rather than a fruit bomb, despite the high alcohol. Will continue to develop over the next 8+ years. 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Touriga Nacional, 2.5% Petit Verdot.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of coffee, plum, currant, black berries and violets. Big, big flavors of plums, jam, black cherries and currants. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Hold for a while. 16.0% alcohol that does show some on the nose and palate. It is what it is.

Champagne and Cabernet (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had blackberry, cedar, spice, and floral notes. The palate was smooth, and had blackberry, spice, floral notes, oak. It was very hot and tannic.

Good quality Barossa Cabernet.
Strong dark fruit, just enough acidity and tannins holding it together.
Nice texture. Glad we bought this one.

Excellent wine. Big on the nose and long finish. Smooth and fruity. Held up well to some spicy Biryani.

No formal notes. A big wine. Black fruits and good structure. Needs time. Very good. 89+
