Decanted thru aerator and strainer, and drank over two days. Deep, dark purple. Full bodied. Tart, almost bitter at first. Earthy plums and blackberries, with a hint of raspberries and cinnamon. Smoother and earthier the second day, but still a little harsh. Much better than when I had it a few years ago. Not sure if even more time will soften. Good food wine, not for just drinking.

Black pepper, anise, lavender, black fruits, celery in the nose. Smooth texture, black cherries and blackberries, very smooth texture and nice finish. Should go well with memorial day steak

From cellar but not yet input. Splash decanted and drank. I am a HUGE fan of Penner-Ash pinots -- my favorite Pinot. Also really big fan of OR Syrahs, e.g., Dobbes SV Syrahs. Thus, this first taste of P-A Syrah was disappointing. Deep color and full mouthfeel. But middle had dome weird

Cuvee: Vineyards: 47% Del Rio Vineyard, 23% Lewis Vineyard, 30% Folin Vineyard, Rouge Valley. Fruit forward, notes of spice. Although, suffers from some heat on the palate. Some minerality noted, but mostly obscured by the high abv. Not a lengthy finish, but seemlessly soft and graceful. The finish was the saving grace for me.

drank another bottle of this wine and honestly it was not quite as good as the one from last week. not quite as jammy as previously, but still nice. still really like this syrah.

This is a great Syrah, definitely ready to drink now. Interesting from the moment it hits your tongue. Fairly light, fruity with a smooth finish. Very enjoyable.

Lucien Le Moine at Scott Paul, and other WV because we're there (Carlton, OR): Co-fermented with 1.5% Viognier, but Cote-Rotie this is not, clocking in at 15% alcohol. Light nose with dark fruits... the palate though was just an extracted Syrah monster. Totally uninteresting to my palate, so I didn't even bother digging into complexities... just finalized my overall enjoyment: 80 points.

So I assume since the label says Rouge and Columbia Valley grapes, that the CV grapes would come from the handful of growers in Hood River or the Dalles. The best thing I like about the wine is the Oak treatment, otherwise considering the standard the P-A pinots have, I was disappointed. It was a bit like the lower end K Syrahs, but @ $30 awful QPR. The Rogue valley Eden Vale Syrah at the $15 is a much better wine. A certain pass.

Touch of viognier. Dark purple color. Full bodied. Nose of cherry and a floral component with a little heat. On the palate there was black cherry, plum, with black pepper on the finish. Decent finish. Not really that much going on for this bottle compared to the WA bottles from the trip. 87

Still drinking well after nearly a decade. Very soft and luscious with dark fruit. Ready to finish our last bottles off.

Deep saturated colour, sweet fruit nose and palate. Not complex, a bit of a fruit bomb and a little sweet.

Let this breath; the fruit will be apparent in 30 min or so, and a nice floral note on the nose.

Glunz Grand Tasting (Union League Club of Chicago): Did not like this wine. I mean really...Oregon Syrah? Didn't work in this case. Big and supremely disjointed. Mouth drying. Blah. Pass.

Nice smooth, balanced wine, with just enough body on the finish. I like the way the vigonier gives it a fresh little lift and smooths it out.

A day tasting in the Willamette Valley with the usual suspects (Oregon): Last wine of the day, my palate was pretty weak. My notes: 15%, for this abv not that bad. Rich fruit palate, unbalanced structure.

A touch of minerality gives this a Rhone quality. I am going to sit on it for a couple of years.

Glunz Wines Winter Portfolio tasting (union league club, chicago IL): nose: good depth on the nose with spice tones, red and black fruits and some bits of berries
taste: excellent medium/full feel with spices, dark red cherries along with red and black fruits. Big tannins really get in the way
overall: needs a good amount of time. A very young syrah and the tannins really overwhelm right now
