Poured from mag with a TON of life left. At first this wine was FUNKY. After an hour there was a bunch of smoked meat, smoked black cherries, graham cracker, tobacco. Very old world nose. The palate is a balance. Youthful black cherry, blackberries, but old saddle leather is present with some fig. Finishes with black licorice, truffle, black pepper. A perfect mixture of old world and new world and kicked ass today from Magnum.

Aromas of dark fruit, plum and leather with herb and tobacco undertones. The leather aroma becomes dominant and follows through on the palate. Medium-bodied and mostly integrated at this point, but still has some power to it. Black currant and plum with leather qualities dominating the palate as well.

A really great example of aged Oakville fruit. The wine is balanced, with soft tannins and the fruit is still showing well. This was consumed over 2 nights and it was just as good the second night.

Auction bottle. Was a bit over the hill and lacking in fruit (and enjoyment), which may be due to provenance, given the other fine notes here. No score, due to this issue/concern.

Popped & poured. Loads of licorice and red fruit; hints of leather and plum. Quite yothful as well - a quality I am noticing as I check in on my 1991s...they're all still on the yong side. This had a subtle tartness to it that I didn't care much for, else it would have scored a little higher for me. Others at dinner liked this more than I did- in the 92-93 range. One bottle left, and there'll be no rush to open it.

Still extremely young and youthful with a nice mouthfeel and decent tannin structure. Not showing too much age in color or taste. Pretty nose, soft fruits and sadly my last bottle. This was served from magnum.

Wednesday Night Blind - March 2010 (Peter Pratt's Inn): My wine, poured blind - I opened this 4hrs prior to the dinner, no decant. Light to medium bodied wine, great balance, soft black fruit, nice complexity, most people were guessing Rhone varietals, nobody picked this as Cabernet. It was a really nice wine, very elegant. Bob and I returned to it later in the evening and all the fruit had left the building, all that was left was oak, so I would advice drinking any you have very soon.

This wine is in such a nice spot right now. So youthful in every aspect. Color is immensely dark all the way to the brim. Nose gives off so many flavors and aromas it is quite amazing. If this were served blind, I would guess many years younger. Crushed rocks, blueberries, eucalyptus, fresh thyme, baking spice and tobacco. Palate is very full bodies still with tannins mostly resolved. Good underlying acidity still which keeps it upbeat and lively. Lovely bottle of wine.

Absolutely everything you could want from a 1991 Napa Cab. Wonderful nose of resolved black fruits, absolutely at it's peak on tannin and fruit evolution and a huge rich finish. Out of Magnum with dinner at Cremant in Seattle. Excellent.

Deep in color. HUGE, very Port-like nose. Huge mouth feel, with the deep, dark fruit fillng the mouth. Very Shiraz like in character on the palate. An absolute beast! With about 3 hours of air time, the wine calmed down, losing the port nose and giving way to the fruit. However it gave up the 'body' it had earlier. Quite disjointed. Seems still early to open this beast. Will yet more time serve to 'balance' everything? Not confident time will yield further maturation.

Amazingly fresh and youthful. Cassis, leather, cedar and a touch of anise. Tannins are resolved but the acids will allow this to improve with another 4-5 years in the bottle.

Really nice and holding up tremendously well for its age. Silky, soft tannins, cherry fruit, great mid palate. At blind night, most thought it was a much younger wine 2002+.

Blind Night (I.Jay): Grapes, prunes, earth, violets and mint. Rich concentrated mid palate and fiish. A very nice wine with some age on it. My first guess was Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. 12.9% alcohol. Brought by I.Jay.

12.9% alc. Drank with a big rib-eye at The Palm, Las Vegas. Decanted for 30 minutes or so. Wow. Big big nose of blackcurrants and vanilla, with some subtle floral notes drifting right on top. Could smell it across the table while it was poured into the decanter. Could just stick your nose in the glass and become intoxicated from the aroma. Threw a lot of sediment. Deep ruby in color with just the slightest bricking. On the palate there were the requisite Napa Cab flavors--blackcurrant, berry and subtle warm spice, with a bit of anise and smoke thrown into the mix. Tannins were noticeable, but silky smooth and well integrated. Superbly balanced. The anise note gathered steam as the finish went on and on. I wish I had more, but alas, this was my one and only bottle. One of the best Napa Cabs I've ever had.

2nd time I have had this wine. It was opened at Anwars on Saturday. Still drinking very well. Notes of earthy fruit and dark chocolate. I scored this lower than the 1st time I had it since my pour was from the bottlom of the bottle and included a lot of sediment. I was able to get most of it out though. 92 points.

1991 California Cabernet (Beginnings and Endings) (Haggis house): The 1st vintage of this wine and my wine of the night. Lively and fresh. Mark said this was almost undrinkable upon release because of the tannins. The tannins are still solid but well integrated. Another wine full of depth and tons of character. Well layered with notes of berry, wet stones and plum. A long gripping finish. 95 points.

Pretty berry, floral aromas. Forward but classy. Velvety mouthfeel. Chewy finish. Quite different than the others, I thought it was a bit uneven, but exciting nonetheless.

Opened by Allred at Anvil. Very Bordeaux-like on the nose with a hint of green or herbal as well. No apparent signs of age.
