J'ai eu peur en constatant l'année (2006) mais après 2 heures en carafe, il s'est révélé excellent. Pas une splendeur mais fort honnête pour un vin payé $21 il y a 5 ans.

Checked out the cork. Was still wet. Liked the wine but am still going to report the tasting as neutral. Still has hints of cedar and raspberry/blackberry. Good wine in spite of what they say about the the drinking years. Sometimes you are psychologically affected based on what is reported on the drinkability. After drinking this wine which was well preserved in my cellar, I would disagree with the experts who have frankly given California wines like this one a bad rap. I have 4 more bottles of this vintage to go and I will report on them one way or the other....... We will see....

Had with burgers on the grille. Nice nose of plum, with hints of dark cherry. Medium body and finish, soft, round tannins. Good mid-week wine. Very enjoyable.

Had at the Sagamore Resort during a banquet dinner. Not as good as the 2005, yet ok in general. Ripe red cherry, dark berries & plum w/hint of vanilla & cigarbox. Tannins are integrated, light acidity, medium-bodied, & soft, moderate finish. Drink this now.

Importer tasting (@ PA): Black berries, plums and cherries. Fruit forward. Soft tannin which have some bite. There is a slight dose of oak. Overall very supple and ok, but not exiting.

I guess I am not much of a Merlot fan. Varietally correct, this Sebastiani Sonoma County bottling displays some berries on the nose (blueberry/blackberry), soft tannins almost unperceptible with food. It is, however, too soft.
After 72h in fridge, this wine is now displaying barnyard smells. It has certainly changed from when I opened it. Fruit is also more evident as well as the finish is longer.

Upon a pon n pour, was thin, however gained nice weight once some air got to it. Decent fruit, toasted oak, vanilla, soft tannins. Decent but can do better for the price.

nose - prune, shoe polish, tar mouth - mid to full bodied, fruit forward, bitter midpalate, good length. strikes me as being overripe. Tried next to the 2006 L'Arrosse (St Emilion) and while frutier, clearly lacks the elegance and balance of its right bank uncle.

Please Note: My bottle was a Jeroboam. We decanted this into 2 decanters. Party of 12 celebrating the HS graduation of my youngest daughter. A lovely nose with a hint of that seductive horse blanket, and fine tannins, maybe even sexy tannins; this could be foreplay wine. Cherry and rasberry, even granny smith apple thrown in with the red fruit on the taste buds. At the same time, walzing along was a teriyaki beef component. Lovely, they were dancing well together, even kicking up a little dust which was definately a taste component up front. The lasting impression for me was harmony and integration. I'm thinking Sebastiani put as much cab franc and cab sauv that they could and still legally label this a Merlot. I would love to pick up another big bottle of this, but alas, it is probably not to be.

Plum and plush. 10 years hasn't hurt this wine in the least. Simple, but very enjoyable.

Ces 10 années lui ont été fort salutaires. Un des meilleurs vins dégustés pour la période des Fêtes 2015!

Sadly past its' prime. Sedimented but still good as an acceptable bottle, but no longer complex. Should have opened it two years ago.

Nice nose, and palate shows cherry, blackberry, vanilla, and cedar. I wouldn't say it's soft like typical merlot, but nicety drink.

Lots of vanilla, plum, cherry, and cedar. I think the fruit is fading somewhat, so don't hold much longer.
