Very good but not worth the high price; luckily I paid a lot less for it at the time. Dark for a Burgundy of that age which shows that he goes for ripeness. Indeed the palate is round, smooth, accented on dark cherries and ripe berries, oak-infused and though very enjoyable to drink it is simple and I am not sure that this shows any terroir - it's almost New World is style. Time to drink up - this will only lose power and become limpid if you wait too long.

Pop and pour. This is ultimate joy! There is an immediate coolness and delight to the palate. Compared to the 2012 of the same wine this one shows a bit of age, and perhaps a tad less intensity and power. Lots of fruit, spiced and mintyness here too, but more of the smooth muddy kind instead of the razorsharp all-consuming kind of the 2012. But besides that fact, the wine has aged charmfully, and shows the vintage perfectly. At its prime now. It will last for another 5 years at max, before the fruit will start to decline. But right now this is a fantastic wine. Loving it.

drunk next to the 2012 of the same wine, each an accurrate reflection of their respective vintages. this wine is bright, delicate and soft, without the structure that would suggest it would benefit from extended cellaring. a very pleasant, if somewhat simple wine, best drunk over the next 5 years. Perhaps a little expensive form what it is, but certainly would make a fine bistro red.

Wow. This is expensive for a village wine (in a so so vintage), and so it should be, it's concentrated, it's interesting.
The nose is gorgeous, interesting, beguiling.
Palate is rich, but rather savoury, perhaps too much so. It lacks the fruit sweetness and intensity to age. But it is going to deliver a glimpse of top class in an early drinking window.
Drink now and over the next 5 years.
sealed with (good quality) cork. 13% ABV.

Slow ox'd for 14 hours. Sweet dark fruits, earth and spice, a wonderfully subtle lift of acidity, and fine, persistent tannins on a long finish. Not the pinnacle of depth or complexity, but nicely polished with some real poise.

As always, Mortet delivers. The nose is sweet, gentle, full, interesting and classic. The palate is magic. A slight hint of mint as always present in mid-aged Mortet wines. Balance of the palate is impeccable. Depth and concentration is beyond most other premier crus I've tasted. There is also an x-factor in here which gives this wine the little extra kick it needs to rise above many of the other producers. This is when I admit that it was a bottle of Mortet Gevrey Chambertin in the '06 vintage that got me hooked on fine wines in the first place back in 2009. So I have a special place in my heart for Mortet, and Arnaud is doing a damn fine job upholding his fathers work and quality. Hands down!

Realtively soft and delicate for a Mortet Gevrey. It's got good complexity but it whispers rather than roars, so you've got to be in the right mood. Drinking well at the moment in a primary fashion.

Very good expression of classic burgundy. Might have drunk too early (half bottle though). Small amount of bitterness and acidity that never went away over the course of an hour. Probably would not buy again for price.

Martine's Wines Portfolio tasting (MK, Chicago IL): nose: really good depth for a villages level wine with excellent tones of red fruits, red and black cherries, with hints of spice. Very gevrey in style as there is a good robustness to it at the same time
taste: young and robust with medium/high acidity. Well balanced tones of red fruits, black cherries, spice and some bits of earth
overall: an excellent village wine that has the ability to get much better as it rounds out with some time. Youthful and robust with a good acidic spine

Fresh red fruit, with good acidity and a hint of spice. A little simple overall and finishes short but a nice Burgundy pinot.
