Amazing nose of high toned red fruits, red licorice, pine forest, minerals, and petrol after about a 1 hour decant. Smooth as silk with cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate fruit accented by notes of raspberry up front, then the earthy elements kick in. Tea leaves, lavender, and burnt fruit mix with more red cherry on the long earthy finish. Mature, peaking now, will hold for a couple more years before fading.

Ruby red in color. 14.5% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, cloves and nutmeg. Medium body with medium acidity. Fresh, light and ethereal on the palate. Flavors of strawberry, cranberry, earth and mushrooms. The finish is exquisite. Gorgeous Pinot Noir that is singing at 9 years of age. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

At peak but fresh enough to hold for a year or two if well stored. This is delicious, from sniff to finish. With medium color, almost floral nose of red fruits/ripe red raspberries/subtle spice notes moving to a very satisfying mouthfeel of ripe but crunchy sweet red cherries, juicy red raspberries and pomegranate... ending is medium long finish. Great juice, good value.

Ooh so ready right now, but I doubt if it will last well overnight. Ruby in the glass all the way to the edge. Bowl fills with aromatic hints of cherry, floral, straw. Very smooth on the palate with mouth filling mix of cherries strawberry earth and spice. Finish is very good especially for a pinot.

Tasted blind. Ripe confected borderline cloying candied nose. Dark red restrained dense spiced Pinot fruit on the palate. I figured either Cali Pinot or ripe '09 Chambolle; with some time, figured this to be New World Pinot. Fine for what it is. If I had more, I'd bury in the cellar for at least another 3-5 years. My father used to say, "California wines taste of the sun, French wines taste of the earth". This was clearly the former.

You know, I went back and looked at my last note on this wine from 2011, when I gave it a 90 and "solid if unspectacular", missing a bit of structure, and "not built for long aging". What a difference 3.5 years makes, this was one of the best wines of the year this time, and definitely speaks to the reward of giving your rochioli wines a bit of time in the bottle. Pop and pour, not showing any signs of age, medium ruby color. Expressive nose upon opening. Creamy fruit on the palate with perfectly matching acidity. All in perfect balance. Lingering brisk finish. In a great drinking window, should be great for years to come.

Of course the one bottle I bought and stored perfectly for the past five years had to have cork taint. Still rich, dark and juicy on the palate and drinkable but certainly not up to par of what it should be given the TCA.

This wine is easily as good as one of the single blocks. Has plenty of beautiful fruit but it's mellowed with a little more age. It's much more soft and round than what I've tasted in the past. I think I'm usually drinking them too early (generally 3-4 years). I'm glad I still have a case because this I think this is the best I've tasted of the Estate.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Cherry pie, baking spice and forest floor on the nose. Tremendous acidity. Tart, rich and medium bodied. Bing cherries, spice, strawberries and an earth component reminiscent of mushroom or truffle. Silky tannins and an exceptionally long finish. An exceptional Estate bottling which bodes well for the '07 Single Vineyard Designates. Drink over the next 2-4 years.

This is a beautifully complex bottle of wine. Still young and vibrant. Lots of strawberry, raspberry, rose and violet on nose and mouth. Earthy nose of mushroom and truffle. Higher acidity makes this a great food wine. Reminds me of a gently aged great red Burgundy at fraction of price.

Clean aromas, streamlined and lean, but rich throughout. That's the magic of Rochioli in my opinion. Last of several bottles. Raspberry, blueberry, currant, forrest floor, some caramel on the nose, nice tannin still, to structure the fruit and spicy finish that lingers on... Wonderful

Transparent violet with slight watery rim, compost with forest floor, red currant and black cherry hiding behind an earthy forest floor nose, a competition between old and new world with red current and red raspberry winning the battle on the pallet, a bit of heat on the finish indicative of the Russian River AVA, but a fantastic showing with a great deal of elegance.

Great red fruit. Drinking well now. Nice balance. Doesn't show a lot of "heat" like many 2007 California Pinots that I've tasted. The only thing holding this back is that it is a little one-dimensional, but it is a good dimension.

Decanted. This smells gorgeous-lilacs and wildflowers, honey and apple pie, all smothered in cherry vanilla soda. A stemmy-herbal top note is present. A welcoming sense of wet Fall-leaves accompanies this. It's deep and multi-faceted, reminding me of the holidays and experiences I've had in autumn vineyards. Nice balance here. A candied watermelon on the finish, with some vegetal characteristics. Nice all-around. Silky mouth-feel, moderate alcohol, nice floral-fruity-earthy balance.

Nice ruby red. Still a young looking wine in the glass. Swirling red fruit aromas covering cherry, raspberry, and cranberry. Opens with time and certainly rich, so that you get a feel this might have a long life in the bottle. Nice mouthweight. Nice lingering finish. While you get a real sense of richness that sense is not accompanied with a similar sense of boldness. To be as rich as it is, it retains elegance and finesse.

Characteristics of cherry cola, briary black raspberry, brown sugar, that Rochioli damp underbrush and baking spice. Soft but with enough spicy grip around the edges and through the finish. Approachable, darker and a little flatter than the last couple bottles. Becomes more floral, spicier with time in the glass. Does not seem to have aged well or a closed phase?

Solid, if unspectacular, bottle of Rochioli Estate. Nose a bit reticent at first but opened nicely over an hour. Lilacs on the nose. On the palate, medium bodied and nicely balanced fruit for the vintage...not a bomber. Having said that, more open for business than I would have expected and might not ultimately last as long as some other more structured bottlings of this wine I've had in the past.

Supple and savory, but all so tightly knit on day one. Big red fruit - raspberries, cherries, and spices. Full-bodied, with fruit and an earthy spiciness with some faint stemmy notes. Enjoyed with bacon-wrapped pork shoulder slow roasted. Didn't really open day two, became more acidic and edgy. Mineral and cranberry, underripe watermelon, and more pronounced alcohol. Less lush, but remains hedonistic.

It's powerful, but off the mark in ways. Dark garnet color, nose of candied cherries, vanillins, camphor and mint. On the palate, it shows lots of edges, however, with a little green vegetable and high alcohol.

Explosive, complex aromas of red cherry, black raspberry, Xmas spice, a pronounced floral edge, briar, chalky earth and a chocolate note. Silky mouthfeel, with an earthy bite. The pure flavors echo the nose. Good length on the finish which is noticably earthy. Very good but just lacking a little extra on the palate and finish. Starting to enter peak window.

Day 1: Tightly wound tannins and a bit stemmy - just ok 88-89 points Day 2: Much better. Integrated and more mellowed tannins. Fruit's a little jammy, so it'll be inteesting to see if some more complexity emerges. 90+ points.

young but very approachable, opened with a wonderful complex nose with fruit forward and heat, and a dark fruit on thepalate with spice and toast in the background. As it opened, friuit lessened and spice came to the fore. A medoium bodied wine with a complex nose and a traditional body and color. nice paring with a wide variety of fod, both fish and game, especially if you start with the fish and end with the game since the fruit dissapated and the spice came to the fore. as it openedNice, complex and good drinking.

Effusive, nicely perfumed nose of raspberry, a little red cherry soda, underlying smoky blackberry, decaying leaf and a little Xmas spice. The bright red (mainly raspberry) fruit of excellent intensity continues on the palate and is joined by a little vanilla. The red fruited finish lingers, showing a little anise, spice and smoke. Delicate, perhaps just a little simple and light in the mouth. Very nice now but will add weight over the next 2-3 years.

Initially impressive and effusive on the nose. Short on the palate. All of the elements from the nose, the black cherry, cola, spice and floral notes translate from glass to mouth, but they are short-lived. Decided to decant and that definitely helped to get things moving. All of the raw material is in the glass for an excellent bottle of wine, it just needs more time. I will look forward to re-visiting this in a few years.

Really liked this bottle. Very approachable with velvety red fruit but enough of a backbone to make it last. With some air we detected some spice and a bit of black fruit. I agree that it will only get better and should be more integrated with some bottle age.

This wine was opened and poured. It is the second bottle of this opened in the past two weeks. Both bottles shows a forward, accessible personality with good depth and complexity. Both bottles show very similar notes on the bouquet of spice, black cherry and cola. the color is a medium to dark ruby that is youthful. the medium bodied palate shows excellent balance between the fruit and tannins. A year or two of bottle age should provide additional nuances and complexity.

Light red; a bit tight and quite "sappy". Needs time but doesn't have the palate richness I would have expected.

Ruby red transluscence, nose that burst from the glass, darker fruit flavors on the palate. Opened a few hours early, but really needed a decant for an hour or so. Drink now, but should evolve well for a few years.

Day 1: Tightly wound tannins and a bit stemmy - just ok 88-89 points
Day 2: Much better. Integrated and more mellowed tannins. Fruit's a little jammy, so it'll be inteesting to see if some more complexity emerges. 90+ points.

Tasted as part of a seven bottle 2007 horizontal RR Pinor Noir event. #1 rated wine. Racy, bloomed on the palate, full-on fruit, dark cherries, gorgeous color, rich yet dry, superb balance. Terrific right out of the bottle.

Youthful. Still very young but drinkable. Pretty color, nice floral nose, good balance of mostly red fruit and baking spices.

young but very approachable, opened with a wonderful complex nose with fruit forward and heat, and a dark fruit on thepalate with spice and toast in the background.

Enjoyed quite a bit. K even more. Didn't like it as well the second day. Very rich cherry, both on the nose and palate. Will be even better in a couple of years. Still a bit tight.

Really liked this bottle. Very approachable with velvety red fruit but enough of a backbone to make it last. With some air we detected some spice and a bit of black fruit. I agree that it will only get better and should be more integrated with some bottle age.

Ruby colored with nose oozing with bright red fruit/cherries. Mouthfeel was very supple and lush. Not big on complexity but well balanced and pleasing.
