TNs: Female Burgundy Winemakers Dinner (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): This was just lovely. It had such a pretty nose, floral and fruity, with drifts of violets, a burst of red cherries, then a lovely underpinning of Vosne spice and earth, and a nice seam of Richebourg minerality. The palate was surprisingly open for such a young Richebourg, even for a 2007. There was a beautiful blush of red cherries and berries, earth and spice on the attack - powerful, deep, and inexorable; yet also absolutely effortless and seemingly without weight. This just filled the mouth with delicious layers of flavours. Past the midpalate, an slightly earthier, spicier notes came out and stretched their legs into a beautifully long, full, focused finish. Silky and elegant, beautifully balance and poised, and absolutely yummy to drink now - an almost unusually feminine for a Richebourg, but such a lovely, transparent, precise wine. I loved this.

Super complex on nose. Red fruits. Strawberry. Touch rhubarb. Spices. Ultra elegant and pure on the palate. Being very critical I would say but of caramel and vanilla on the finish, so oak almost fully integrated. Perhaps another year or two and this will be in the optimal spot? But to be fair, really impressive now. Long finish. Silky and integrate tannins.

Popped and poured at correct temperature, slow to wake but lovely nose of ripe red currants, violets and a whiff of roses. Good mouthfeel and weight, plenty of power and decent lively acidity. A strong effort despite a cooler vintage, which can only be detected on the slightly shorter finish - Still 45 secs + but you would expect generally more than that from a Richebourg.
I feel still has another 5-7 years to go before it reaches it peak, which is interesting because I feel most would have already started drinking their 07's.

Started off simple and mid-weight but put on a bit of pud in the glass. There was some dried rose, black cherry and plum notes along with sweet earth and licorice. It was spicy with aromas of freshly grated ginger and Chinese 5 spice powder. It had a jube like feel in the mouth and finished with supple tannins.

Beautifully sweet nose of red and blue fruit with a touch of spice. Rich, almost syrupy texture compared to all those Leroys. Very sweet on the palate. Pretty and sleek. Nice smooth finish.

Just coming into its own. Decanted and left for 2 hours after which the tannins abated and the wine took on a certain degree of complexity with plenty of rich complex tastes. However, still not the depth of intensity and length one would expect of a wine of this provenance - Must be the year!

Allowed bottles 2 hours breathing before meal. Bottles were very different, with the first being fully rounded, fruity with a long finish. The second, the tannins were very much more in evidence and was a little disappointing for a wine of such provenance.

Wonderfully soft, fruity and rounded. A delicate wine but which was unmistakably a Richbourg, with all those earthy flavours. Probably will not keep for very long but well worth drinking right now.

Quite linear at this time, with very untypical notes for a 2007. Then again this is clearly grand cru quality. Smoke, cherries, wood and gunpowder on the nose. Medium bodied with great persistency. A bit restrained at first but opens up in the glass. Will keep 20 years...

Opened, decanted and followed for roughly 3 hours. The first word that popped into my head when smelling it was simply "purple". Ripe, dark red raspberry and blackberry on the nose with an incredible array of spices. Clove, nutmeg, bits of cardamom, star anise. Dark purple floral tones. Sappy berry fruit on the palate too. The spice reappears here as well. Very giving, but at the same time, you can feel the somewhat buried structure. A very long finish with great acidity. A very seductive wine that has only gotten better since I first tasted it our of barrel 4+ years ago.

Decanted and consumed over the course of about 2 hours. Sappy dark berry fruits on the nose with quite of bit of brown baking spice. Nutmeg and a bit of clove. Violets also. Mineral notes. Fruit forward on the palate with great texture. This has put on quite a bit of weight since the last time I had it, but is still medium bodied. The palate has a certain firmness to it and a great mineral structure. Tons of brown spice again throughout the palate and the long finish. This is another very approachable 2007 Grand Cru, however it certainly has the stuffing to age over the medium term.

Knightsbridge Burgundy Tasting: New Releases (Northbrook, IL): Wine tasting. Lots of red fruit on nose with modest spice, better floral elements. Flavor of raspberry and red cherry, but slightly muted and lost behind the wine's tannins and acidity. This is a nice and charming wine, but not showing as well as I've come to expect from young Anne Gros Richebourg. But at the same time, there is a good amount of solid extract so I am holding out hope this will put on weight in the next few years, bringing out more fruit and spice. I look forward to trying this again in 2 or 3 years.

Knightsbridge's New Release Burgundy Tasting (Knightsbridge, Northbrook IL): nose: very perfumed and heady nose filled with red fruits, red cherries, spices, bits of roses, and violets. Very good depth right now with a sort of silky effect on the nose. It also shows off its youth as it is a bit tightly wound and the layering isn't there just yet
taste: Very satiny and polished lighter feel with medium/high acidity and good tannins. Round and pretty tones of red cherries, red fruits, spices, incense, and bits of roses. Has great depth right now, but the tannins and acidity are showing off the youth of the wine
overall: there is a slightly more forward aspect to wine, but it is a real lovely wine. Very young, as would be expected, this is showing fairly well at this stage. It should be a real beauty of a wine when it becomes more mature and develops some more layering

Very sappy, dark red fruits with very fragrant spice; nutmeg and a bit of clove. Medium bodied with very nice length and great mouthfeel. I look forward to seeing how this evolves and puts on more weight with time in the bottle

Sappy red fruit. Slightly sweet palate with good depth for such a young wine. Medium body. Spice. Medium weight, but clearly lots in reserve. Very nice.

Tasted at the Domaine. Dark elegant fruit with violet and baking spice. Some confit cherry. Fantastic mouthfeel, great acidity and minerality balance. A very good example of her Richebourg, but not the best I've ever had. 0.60ha with vines that average 70yrs.

Tastd at the Domaine with Anne. This was the wine of the day. No, the wine of the trip so far. Stunning richness, complexity, intensity, acidity, floral notes on the nose, sweetness on the palate. Everything here is just perfect.
