Beautiful wine out of the bottle. Cork was half saturated. Slightly tannic. Wonderful nose once the cork was pulled. Full bodied wine. Slightly chalky on the finish. This is not at peak however this is drinking very nice right now. I think the drinking window is at least 5 plus years. Enjoy.

Cloudy orange-red color. Strong barnyard with a touch of sulphur and lobster broth along with strong black truffle on the nose. Sweet stewed fruits more typical of hot vintage Chateauneufs. Notes of black truffles and sweet mixed fruits . Deliciois.

Really good. Popped and poured. Smooth drinking but retains some muscularity. Dark profile with tart berry and rich tobacco and earth notes. In a very good place, but should have years ahead of it.

Garnet color with slight browning. Sort of floral on the nose with rose and dried strawberry. Tasted strawberry in the beginning that became balsamic toward the end of the bottle.

Dark ruby, with notes of new leather, boysenberry and hung meat. Fine tannins, velvety texture, quite polished but layered. Very good. A bit darker and less acidic than other vintages I've had of this wine. Still young and has 4-5 more years to reach its plateau, which could be quite long.

Italy 2012; 10/6/2012-10/23/2012: Cork soaked 66% Strawberry, raspberry, cherry, olive?. (I Love strawberry in BdM). Maybe lacking a bit of acidity. Ready to drink now. I'm not a fan of Caparzo's normale Bdm, and La Casa does not rise to the the level of other producers' elite bottles, but this is a solid BdM.

Brunello di Montalcino - Decanter FW Experience (London): From a cooler area, at250 m altitude. Mid ruby with a fragrant nose of strawberry, red currants and violets. The palate has a mouth cleansing acidity, which would be great with cold cuts. It is good concentration is fleshy yet more fragrant than weighty. Firmer tannins with a hint of Balsamic

Very disappointing after decanting for an hour. Pretty in the glass with dark ruby-garnet colors. Nose is great with blueberry, blackberry, dark cherry, and lots of tobacco and leather. Unfortunately, the mouth doesn't measure up-- mushroom and earthiness with a bitter finish. Sorry we have 4 more bottles of this ....

A bit muted. Notes of grilled meat and dried cherries. Brooding and muscular. Smoke and dusty black cherries on the palate with fine tannins. Has long savory finish with sandlewood aromatics and leather. Well balanced, but still young-ish and coming together.

Beautifully concentrated nose of ripe strawberries, ripe red cherries, less volatile acidity, licorice, loads of leather, cèpes de Bordeaux... in the mouth, ripe strawberries, nice refreshing acidity, loads of ripe tannins, very long aftertaste, bonbon acidulé, fantastic brunello!

Conclusion first: This is a real beauty now and probably for several years to come. It has a beautiful and complex bouquet with fruit, some menthol and a light dose of beautiful oak. Very juicy on the palate with juicy and a bit sweet fruits and also beautiful fresh acidity. There is tannin alright, but there is hardly any bitterness or unfriendly experiences in the long finish. Great wine!

Mature, elegant and deilicious, with soft tannins. A bit over the top, maybe.

Very elegant and balanced, no significant signs of aging. Perhaps missing a bit of intensity. Best in 5 years or so.

A wine that surprised me. It combines good concentration of fruit, precision, elegance and acidity. In an excellent time to be drunk

A wonderful Brunello - soft and subtle yet a firm structure/backbone. This wine completed our Italian meal. I sense this is peaking now...
