Gravel, burnt iron. Rough finish. Banfi has been making some decent value wines lately but this isn't one of them. I'm generally not a Chianti fan so if you really like the sangiovese grape maybe you'll like this more than I did.

I was impressed by the rich, almost explosive fruitiness. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese, the plump, juicy fruit is contrasted with just enough leather and tobacco to give it some of that Italian swing. Great acidity and soft supple tannins. Give it 15 minutes in a carafe, serve it around 15C, and have fun. Drink now-2010. Food pairing: apéritif, spaghetti with meat sauce.

Overwhelmingly vegetal on the noise. Also tasted vegetal and tart. This wine isn't even quaffable. Two drinks and we put it in the fridge for cooking wine. I enjoyed the Clos di Sasso as a cheap drink five or six years ago, but maybe my taste have gotten better or the quality of the wine has gone down. Either way major disappointment.

Decent tuscan red. Not a whole lot going on. Some faint red fruit scents. Leathery palate, for sure, with some dark fruit, earth, wood. Good cheap tuscan blend. Not as good as 2006.

Good. Nothing more. A pleasant enough tuscan, though could stand to use some merlot in my opinion. Leathery mid palate with a passing whiff of fruit on finish. Cola nose.

Quite strong Chianti, with plenty of flavour given a reasonable age - not over the top at all

I was very impressed for the money, was only $25 @ zazis in B'ham, tasted like a sangiovese with a little spice. Medium, smooth, very nice

Lite duft, røde bær, jord på smak. Ok balanse, nokså kort i smak selv om det er noe der. Dårligere enn 2006
