Consistent. Earthy nose with some red fruit, good energy on the palate, really bright and still has a charming juicy presence. After an hour more floral notes coming out in the nose. So pretty.

Another 2007 that delivers. Aged into a great place with some fruit and structure still. Smoky savory, long finish. Well balanced, made for food. I’m really impressed by this 2007, wish I had bought much more of this vintage.

One of the most satisfying 6 packs I've purchased 10yrs ago...all bottles have been a true joy! Wish I had purchased 10 6 packs, as this wine is still climbing. Super perfumed red berry, dried cherry pretties...translucent and feminine, yet still shows a solid handshake structure of crushed minerality...salt rock dryness...a juicy dry...like red licorice, or dried sweet fruits. Subtle elegance, yet one not to shy away from getting dirty...earthy tilled strawberry field, cinnamon stick, dried roses...little sous bois, menthol, leather starting to integrate...still a youthful sour pucker to the long, kick chair back, finish. Just LOVE the easy going subtleness of 07 Burgs...and THIS wine is one of the best!

8/12, cork 50-60% soaked. Pale garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Nose is gently fragrant showing raspberries, florals, touch of soil and mineral. Light/medium bodied, elegant with raspberries and florals again to the fore, a touch of game then vibrant acidity carrying a medium/good length perhaps slightly sandy finish. Very good indeed though and drinking well.

Beautiful translucent color, stood it up for a couple of days to let the sediment settle. Very firmly structured, still some tannins to shed, iron, some florals, a hint of anise, leans to the savory side. I just love Lafarge! On day 2 it shows a bit more fruit and delicacy, and it is simply lovely. Has many years of life, and will likely improve. (For those who want to know, no decant, Riedel Burgundy stems.)

7/12, cork 50% soaked. Pale garnet core, wide very pale garnet rim. Nose is fragrant, raspberries, florals, touch of spice and white pepper. Medium bodied, lightly savoury raspberry fruit, touch of cranberry, soft tannins, fresh acidity, very good length, harmonious, linear finish. Excellent, drinking beautifully.

6/12, cork 20% soaked. Pale garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Nose is gently floral, touch of cranberry, soft red fruits too. Quite aromatic with a touch of soil, mineral and savour. Medium bodied on the palate, elegant, raspberry, cranberry, floral, fine but still slightly firm tannins, fresh acidity, decent length slightly firm finish. Beautiful, elegant village Volnay, drinking well but absolutely no hurry.

5/12, good cork. Pale/med garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Discreet, restrained, raspberries, florals. Medium bodied, graceful raspberry fruit, soft tannins, balanced acidity, touch of soil and savour on the good length finish. Delicious village Volnay, drinking well, no particular hurry.

4/12. 1/2 a bottle Coravined. Pale garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. A touch inscrutable at first, opening to show florals, cranberries, raspberry, a touch of soil. Medium bodied, elegant with very fine tannins, still a sense of firmness but loosening up nicely, cranberry, raspberry, touch of soil, attractive fresh acidity, good length tangy finish. Drinking well but absolutely no hurry.
Second half finished 23/11 - tannins perhaps a touch softer but otherwise no discernible change - still a lovely Volnay.

Almost 4yrs to the day since my last one of these....open in bottle for an hour....MAN this is still good! The beautiful transparency and red berries are still there...with a little more dark spice and earth tones making its way to the party. The fruit is still nice and tart, crunchy red berry, rhubarb, cherry, raspberry......pretty and elegant 07-ness...solid Volnay structure, but age is letting it come out to play. Super florals of dried roses, tobacco/autumn leaves, dusty cherry/cinnamon spice, tilled strawberry field.....a subtle med bodied beauty here.....pleasure to drink now, as well as knowing it should be just fine for future partakes! Makes me want to search out even more 07 Volnay!

As I would expect from a Volnay from 07, this is all about grace, but there's also a remarkable depth of flavor and vinous core here, with raspberry, cocoa, nut, and game qualities. Really pretty and could even do with some more bottle age.

Decanted for about an hour, consumed over three. This is a simply lovely, lovely wine. Elegant and charming, but with a very firm spine of minerals and earth. Lively red fruit (toward strawberries), and a distinct spice note, particularly on the finish. Tannins are evident, but are a good counterpoint to the bright red fruit and significant earthiness. Lafarge works wonders from a "weaker" vintage and village grapes. This is a 2007 which I imagine will be drinking very nicely over at least the next ten years. Yum!

Pale/medium garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. The nose at first shows cranberry, broadening to raspberry and even strawberry as it warms and opens, even some creamy notes. Medium bodied on the palate, raspberry, hint of herbs yet quite soft and broader than I recall from previous bottles, with a good length, balanced finish with a nice expansive kick. This is very good indeed and seems to still be getting better.

This just kept getting better the longer it was opened. Started drinking at 1.5 hours and finished at 4 hours. Had with Dujac F&P MSD 2007. While the Dujac nose was deeper and more opulent, this was the favorite for its perfume, focus and satiny palate.

Restrained in many ways, but ready. Bright cherry acid, great alongside food. I think this is an open Lafarge red. A subtle tobacco like character emerges alongside the red fruit on the finish. I wonder if that's stem. Although to be fair the last glass was best.

MAN I love this wine...Martin send me more! I should really hold off on this one as it should only get better with some age...but it's so darn tasty now! Med bodied with a nice tight structure...bright cherry, raw rhubarb, raspberry fruit....crunchy minerals, dried rose/strawberry field florals, some autumn leaves as well. I just love the transparency in this! Great tartness, earth, florals.....delicious!

2/12. Pale/medium ruby, wide pale ruby rim. Nose is discreet and restrained, with still youthful, pretty red currant and raspberry fruit, notes of soil. I've only had a couple of Lafarge wines, and so far I'm very impressed by their purity and transparency. This was showing both in spades, along with a some spice and gingerbread making their way into the mix with the bright and tart red fruit. Starts off austere and tightly structured, but after a couple of hours in the decanter this softens up a bit to show a velvety side.

Just a pop-n-pour, with a little air. Very translucent cranberry color...fresh and perfummy red berry, cherry pixy stick, mineral dust, a little chemical fume nose. Med bodied in the mouth....great tight structure of crunchy minerals, raw rhubarb, and cherry skin acidity...to go along with the dainty fresh crushed, bright berry fruit. More structure than fruit, yet I like the dryness! Subtle perfume florals, raspberry farm, dried strawberry and leaves. Most might think simple...I think tasty! Will definitely be better in a few more years. +pts

This is a brisk, edgy wine. I gave this several hours of slox ox time, call it about 4 and drank it through this window. Lighter colored with a volume of brisk red fruit and leathery, mineral-like tannin. Lot of tension and structure packed into this wine, which I enjoyed. Only had one bottle but if I had another, I'd let it age another 5 years.

Popped and poured: Bright translucent red color. The nose was somewhat restrained at first but after hours of being open started to show some pretty red fruit fragrances. The palate is very elegant with tell-tale Volnay minerality that is almost crunchy, a nice nervy midpalate and juicy acidity. A very nice village Volnay from Lafarge!

Morrell Wines Cote de Beaune The Reds (Morrell Wines, NYC): Semi-translucent ruby red in the glass. On the nose I get bright sour cherry with a little bit of anise that is intriguing. On the palate, concentrated sour cherry once again from the attack through the modest finish. Another great example of a wine with great acidity that would do well with many salty foods. Not bad at all, but not great either.

Pale ruby core, very pale garnet rim. Medium intense, pretty nose showing raspberry fruit, vanilla, touch of florality and soil but also just the odd slight hint of stalkiness. Medium bodied on the palate, reasonable depth on the mid-palate with fresh, crunchy, slightly creamy raspberry fruit, vanilla, some soil, quite attractiv but does then fall away a little on the short/medium length finish. Light/moderate tannins which are slightly firm, particularly on the finish. If i didn't know burgundy better I might be tempted to predict a short life-span for this wine, but I am sure it will be fine for at least 5-7 years from here.

Domaine Lafarge tasting with Chantal and Frederic Lafarge: Pure fruit and classic pinot aromas in a supremely clean and elegant bottling. Silky. Good energy levels. If price is a consideration this was absolutely the WOTN for me.
