First night was too hot, overly tannic, with no finish and little consistent taste, even after decanting. Second night opened up quite a bit into a smooth and nice wine, with pleasant tannins. Unfortunately I wouldn't serve this at a party because it took too long to reach that happy finale. Merlot and malbec really showed in finish.

Nice easy drinking table wine. Lots of dark fruit, black cherry, raisins. Some sweet cranberry. Some currant. Very mild tannins. Mild aromas of leather and smoke. Some oak.

A bit hot upon first opening, despite 13.5% alc/vol. Cassis and plum aromas emerge, with smooth plum flavors. The oak is quite vanillin on first opening, and a slight mocha aftertaste. with air the flavors are smoother, the alcohol dissipates and the vanilla and mocha notes disappear as well. Very good by at $11. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Petite Verdot, 7% alcohol, 1% Cabernet Franc.

This wine is NOT past its prime. Still has nice fruit and some tannin. Good value for this price.
