Popped and poured. A very nice nose showing beetroot, blueberries and a hint of flint. The palate is delicious, with excellent cranberry acidity, some tannins, good red berries, very tasty. This is one of the very few Californian (or perhaps only?) PNs I've had, and I was wondering whether this would have the essence of the variety smothered, but no, I find this to be a very typical PN and very good! Nice age on this bottle now and it is well intergrated and drinking well. Prominent nose of pomegranates, cherry, and blueberries. Lively tannins set off the juicy red fruit flavors with hints of cedar and clove. Medium finish. Drinking great now and has a few more years.

Very interesting drink. Ruby red color. Sweet and "tingley" nose. Almost made me want to sneeze after a big inhale. Vanilla cola on the nose and palate. Cherry, a little cedar as well. Interesting. Generally fruit dominated, very enjoyable.

Cambria is becoming one of our favorite Pinots. This '07 had predominate cherry, strawberry and vanilla flavors. Nice mouthfeel and complexity. It always seems to be gone before the evening is over, which in our own informal rating system is a very positive score. Frankly, we prefer it to at least one vineyard-specific Gevrey-Chambertin at twice the price. This is one Pinot that a Cabernet lover can get his teeth into!

Medium-deep pinot color. Unexpected but inviting sweet butterscotch nose, with cherry cola in the background. On the palate, syrupy oak largely masks the berry fruit. Reasonable persistence. The dominant sweet wood manages to hold this together fairly well, but little else to distinguish this. Currant in SD.

deep burgundy--no bricks here. thick velvety swirl. pungent rhubarb on the nose. tannen 3+ but VERY smooth, acidity 3, fruit/glycerin 3+ hint of sweet but it is dry= fruit to me. Opens over time. drank over 4 days--no real diminution. great bargain. Probably will drink well for a decade. Reminds me of a fine Pommard. Oh, I didn't appreciate the alcohol--14.5%! This wine is better balanced than one initially thinks.

Typical cherry nose with a bit of acid. Strong strawberry taste up front without being too sweet. Slightly spicy finish, very smooth and light. Really opens up after 30-60 minutes and becomes silky. Will definitely drink again.

Ruby color, medium body, clear at the edge. Nose had dark cherry fruit, but I don't get the cola that others mention. Palate was classic pinot, with cherries prominent and a hint of spice. Not terribly complex. Initially (opened and poured through the venture) this was unpleasant and acidic, but after an hour, and matched with the braised lamb shank, it came into its own. I'd guess it holds up in head to head with pricier attempts elsewhere...

very earthy aromatics, mixed with cherry cola. The flavor is not integrated, however, with harsh, sour fruit and pepper. Unlike the '06, which really found a very nice balance and integration, this wine went big and basically did not come as close to meeting its objective. OK, and an interesting effort, but not a stellar result.

Clean Santa Maria Pinot aromatics coming through on the nose. Ginger, spice, black cherry and everything nice. A bit floral, too, which carries over to the palate. Medium weight is about right for Pinot, nicely balanced acid, too. It's a bit oaky in vanillin flavor and doesn't have much of a finish, though. Gets a bit sticky in the mouth--not necessarily sweet, just a caramel-like feeling. Anyway, nice varietal character, and a very good value, but doesn't quite get over the hump though there are plenty of more expensive Pinots that don't come close to this level of balance and varietal character.

Nice, clear ruby red colors. Blueberry, dark cherries, earth and hints of mineral noticeable on the nose. Medium bodied. Ripe red cherries right up front, hints of blueberry in the mid-palate and nice mineral on the finish. Slightly off-balanced noticeable acidity (would have prefered to have had the acidity more integrated and unnoticed). Nice lingering finish. This is a nice Santa Maria Pinot Noir. Price point is appropriate and fair. Would be great slightly chilled (60-65F) on a hot day around the barby while nibbling on some chicken wings or some flatiron strips (on their own or dipped in some guacamole). The acidity makes it perfect for such a meal as it would cut right through the fat and augment the flavors of the meat (and the meat in kind would do the same for the wine). 88 pts.
After reviewing others comments, (I'm drinking it as I publish this), I do get the cherry cola...the cola is integrated within the wine...good call whoever noticed that! I'd say that the cola is an element within the earthyness and deeper within the earth lies the mineral foundation that permeates the wine. The blueberry comes forward and blends with the cherry, cola, and earth as the wine opens up. This would make a great house red at any restaurant or even at home. Still stand by pairing this with barby faire...would love to try it with barbied salmon or even a lobster tail (breaking sterotypes is risky but this wine might just pair well...lobster tail is full of fat and this might cut through it...if I'm wrong, I"m sorry, cork it and put it in the fridge and pop open a Huber oaked Chardonnay instead...because I know that that is perfect with a barbied lobster tail). Drinking very well now...might age another few years but is working its magic now.
Should probably also add a small note about the Julia's vineyard. This vineyard was planted in the late '70's and early 80's making the vines somewhat mature for this region of the world (the oldest vineyard in the area was planted in the late '60's / early 70's to HUGE success) and the area is still experiencing new plantings of new vineyards. The weather patterns are unique in that they provide for a much longer hang time than Burgundy and most vitners in the area produce wines in a burgundian style. This vineyard produces fantastic Pinot Noir's and parcels are highly sought after by most of the wineries in the area. It was named after one of the owners daughters.

Spice and hints of oak on the nose with notes of plum...smells like a pinot noir, haha. Peppery taste, with a certain woodiness and a generic red fruit flavor. Medium bodied, with a nice tannic finish. Light garnet hue. Nose of cherries. Lots of cherries, and a little spice. Add a little cola on the palate, along with an mineral note that is interesting if a bit out of place. Nice mouthfeel with some sharp tannins that sneak up on you a bit on the finish. Drink or hold; it will improve for 1-2 years.
All in all, a nice wine for the $20. In a given year, you can probably find better at $15-17, but you can always bank on this wine year after year as good QPR.

Well this was the Wine Enthusiast's #1 wine of 2009 so I grabbed 3 bottles from the NH State store on my way back from Maine. I was excited to start the New Year with this bottle but it was a letdown. Can't really add much to what other reviewers have said. Great cherry and raspberry with just enough tannin to make it structured and elegant. Went perfectly with pancetta wrapped grilled quail with a honey balsamic glaze with thyme and garlic and grilled radicchio. Great value for the price.

Recent release from Cambria. Big, fruity nose with a little bit of spice. Cambria does a nice job with Pinots but I was surprised at how mature this was for an '07. Don't get me wrong, this is a very fruit forward (strawberries, cherries) wine, but the tannins were nicely integrated with a nice silky mouth feel. Will age for several years, but based on this bottle, I'd drink it now.

Similar to last bottle...drinking very well now. Lots of strawberry and cherry with medium tannins. Very Good
