This was a bottle cellared from release (with much gratitude to the owner for bringing it) and in pristine shape, even holding a ruby core in the glass. Aromatics (94-95) were better than the cinnamon, berry, tea flavors (90+) which were clipped by acidity in the finish, though it was enjoyable on all fronts. No decant and it began fading after an hour.

Pristine bottle with amazing color. Perfectly mature with cinnamon spice and forest floor. Not necessarily an amazing wine but a great bottle that was fun to drink.

The label of this bottle was missing entirely, the trader told me this is from a cellar with a parcel of 1976 Dujac CDLR. On the cork 1976 CDLR. With 5 cm ullage and a light red purple colour. It had a superb nose of earth and sweet cassis with a great perfumed quality. On the palate fresh with loads of purple fruit and exciting flavours of tobacco, black tea and lovely stabilising tannins. Fleshy, velvety and chocolaty, delicious and balanced on the medium length finish. Brilliant for the vintage …

I have not had the pleasure to drink very many Dujac's from the 70's, so this was a real treat. A great bottle that was enjoyed and very much appreciated.

During a visit to Dujac 6 year's ago Jacques Seysses explained a bit about this vintage describing how it was a hot year and that a friend and mentor of his from Beaujolais had convinced him to let the fruit hang a little longer in hot years believing that fast ripening may not lead to proper phenolic ripeness. So that he wasn’t tempted to pick Jacques headed off to Bordeaux for a week of tasting mid-vintage in this year.
Last night's bottle of 76 Clos La Roche was in fine form. It had a fair bit of cellar stink when first opened but breathed up really well. There were notes of dried fig, sweet meats, baked earth and forest floor. There was some sappy/stemsy lift to the wine and it was sweet and textural in the mouth. It felt like a wine from a warm year but still possessed good brightness and energy.

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (New York, NY): Brief Paulee tasting note. Intriguing combination of forest floor, spice hints, lingering red fruit and leather. Palate a little more tired, slightly simple towards finish.

Amazing line-up, one-word impressions only: This showed still well with good underlying sweetness, perhaps a bit one-dimensional
