pretty bad, sarah suspects that this bottle has turned a little "eau du vinegar", i think it might just be bad wine. we do not recommend, but it did make delicious sangria with rapid application of the emergency/non-emergency sangria kit (footnote rutt.

I think it's one of the following: A) Not yet ready to be opened. (Needs a few years.) B) Needs to be decanted for awhile. C) Not a good year. D) Or my pallet has advanced since I last tried an Old Moon.
Wife says it's "bricky and mild. Seems to lack complexity but drinkable. Not necessarily to be savored, but drinkable enough to get you drunk."
I think it's a little tart, or bitter, or tannin-y. I'm not sure what that taste is I'm getting, but it's not fruity or full or spicy.

Given to me as a gift from a friend, not for the wine itself but rather, apparently, for the label. Eh, you get what you (don't) pay for. Anywho, pretty blah - can't speak to a QPR in this price range, but for double the price (11-12) you can get some really nice wines. Everything here is pretty muted, I get a little spice, a tin amount of berry, and that's it.

Needed some Zinfandel for a barbeque sauce I was making so I figured I'd use this and drink the rest. Nice dark purple Zin color. A little heat on the nose with hints of cherry cough syrup, raisins and black pepper. Decent mouthfeel. Somewhat jammy with dark and candied cherries. Black pepper also present with some earthiness and blackberries. Pretty good for the price. Will probably pickup some more to make more sauce.

This certainly did not taste very "old vine". Wine had a touch of a sulfur smell to it upon opening, which dissapated with a few minutes in the glass. This wine was very tame with none of the bravado you expect from an old vine zin. More of an easy drinking version of a zin, I suppose. There are better values to be had in this price range at trader joe's.

Cinnamon, clove, black pepper and christmas candle on the nose, ripe berries on the mouth, high tannins, no mid palate, no finish whatsoever, boring but still drinkable for $6.

NIcely aged fruity Zin with low tannins and a full mouthfeel. Like inviting an old friend for dinner. Beautiful color.

Solid wine for $6. Nothing special, but enjoyable given the price. Will definitely purchase more.
