1st bottle of 6 - light red color with orange dazzles and long legs - nose fruity with black currant and dried figs - flavor smooth with sweet cherries and hints of tannins - spicy with cinnamon and green pepper - long finish; in summary a very fine burgundy

Domaine de L'arlot with Olivier L.: once again - not bad, but just a bit frail, earth and some red berries, silky but with a thin finish.
Interestingly enough - a wine critic present at the tasting had this as the best showing wine. perhaps I can't project where this wine will go. I liked it better at the end of a long evening with a full (half)bottle

started out a bit thin, but with a deep earthy frame around the nose. Later on some sweet strawberries made their way out of the boule. It didn't stand up all too well to a veal dish at Cafe Boulud which included sweetbread and veal shank, but as the wine grew in the glass and as the food dissappeared on the plate the wine felt better and better.

Made from young vines of the flagship Clos des Forets; nose has sweeter fruit here, hint of alcohol, bit of smoke, caramel hints, darker red fruits than the Clos du Chapeau but still just medium to medium light ruby in color; palate: some nice sweet fruit - same tartness on the Clos du Chapeau is there, but this is more pleasurable. Sweet fruits and tannins present on palate, but really tasty. 91-92

The vintage’s sweet fruit profile gets an added perfumed lift by the L’Arlot house style. It is sappy, fresh and energetic, bristling with cherry and earth aromas and flavours. There’s a touch of liquorice and it is silky and fine in the mouth. It is not particularly deep but doesn’t have to be from half bottle as a delicious luncheon wine.

Color: Light Ruby
Acidic and offensive at the start. Light nose, very thin, slightly dry. Opens up tremendously, let this wine open before drinking.
