Compared to the parallel opened Leoville Barton 08 this St.Emilion was ready right from the start. 08 typical mid weighted with red berries, tabaco and some well integrated oak. The lively acidity provides a quite multi layered long final. Good QPR and pleasure over the next 10 years.

Note from day three after drinking a little over half on day one and recorking/letting rest until day three. Impeccably smooth and succulent. Nose is somewhat muted, but the palate is bursting with plums, blackberries, blueberries, spice, and a long evolving finish. Really impressed on how it has opened up and improved in this time.

The is the debut vintage for the team of Nicolas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt at the property. They were not involved in the picking, but they were responsible for aging and blending the wine. Now, you pick up floral notes with smoke, plums cherries, and truffle. Medium-bodied, fresh, vibrant and showing sweet, clean, slightly crisp red fruits in the finish, you can drink this now, or age it for a few more years to allow for additional nuances.

Close to fully mature, there is secondary aromatic development, softness and earthy, spicy, mineral driven fruits, with sweetness and character, but the fruits begin fading quite early in finish. There is no real hurry to drink this, but no reason to age it any longer either.

The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered floral notes, ripe dark fruit, black currant, strawberry, blackberry, black raspberry, plum, chocolate, spices, some coffee and a fascinating gravelly component on the nose and palate, with good acidity, medium-plus tannin and good length. Good concentration and complexity, too. A very good St. Émilion; only the moderate length is a limiting factor. I would recommend holding your bottles for at least five years. 92+ for now.

Dark ruby. Nose of blue fruit with dried fruit, oak, vanilla, a touch oxidative. Maturity was clearly pushed here. Confirmed on the palate, full bodied, ripe Merlot, freshness could be better but still within acceptable bank. Aromatically not too deep. Got better with aeration. Decant for 1h.

Very good wine A little bit similar to Ch. La Croizille I tasted lately. Black fruit, coffee and earthly hints in the nose. Prunes, cassis and black fruit on the palate. Medium finish. Tannins are nicely melted down with the acids. A very fine and well balanced wine. Drink now. Don't know if it will last for another 10 years.

Decant for hour is good but if you have time dont decant but open for 1.30 hour very good. I like it more from bottle. You can drink it up to 4hour and it still good

Tannic, firm, fresh, tight and not in the mood for current drinking, this blend of 70% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon has potential. But you're going to need to wait for its mineral driven personality to shine through.

“Merlot from a Bordeaux-perspective”-Tasting in June 2014, Flight 5, Wine 1 (blind). The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered a fruity and meaty nose of blackberry, damson plum, cherry, chocolate, leather and gingerbread spice. On the ripe palate the wine showed blackberry, damson plum, cherry, coffee, chocolate and mildly spicy notes, paired with medium to medium-plus acidity, medium to medium-plus fine tannin and very good length. A medium-bodied, well-structured, smooth and very balanced Bordeaux that clearly had a flair of elegance to it. Simply put, a truly great wine and probably my favourite wine of this epic tasting. Start drinking in 2016.

Decent nose, a bit floral. Smooth on entry with velvety texture. Notes of dark cherry, plum and cassis. Medium body with good acidity level and no hints of alcohol. Shows very good balance on opening but acidity emerges 1.5 hours later toward the end of the lunch, quite disappointing. Will give this a miss. 88-90 pts.

I decided not to bother waiting for this to age. So - two hours decanting and the wine is drinking quite well. I agree with Parker or whoever wrote that it's lacking mid-palate or seems just a little hollow in the middle. All the oak and dark berries does it good now. Just a slight bitter or green finish.

Very approachable. Plenty of oak. Acidity is still unresolved and is not fully integrated with the tannins. Bit of licorice and citrus. Still too young.

Drank this wine the other night in Fayence on vacation. Very dark and oozing with class. The oak was very present as xpectected but it was full of dark jucy berries too. The taste was holding back a little more than the nose, tight but beautiful wine. Prety powerful for a Emilion in alcohol too: 14,5%vol but no trace of in the wine. I bought four bottles at 46 Dollars, would have liked to get six but I could carry no more in my luggage to check-in.

Bordeaux 2008 (Bordeaux): Nose is just a bit closed showing hints of extraction and black cherry. Palate is fine, not too extracted, with a tonic aspect that is refreshing. Cherry pit fruit is subtle and there is warmth without the alcohol being too present on the finish. Fine. 89-92+

Bordeaux En Primeur 2008; 3/27/2009-4/3/2009 (Bordeaux): 2008 Barrel sample tasted blind at a 10 wine presentation of Premiers Grands Crus Classés de Saint-Emilion at Chateau Trottevieille. Color: thick, ripply dark blue, streaky on the glass. Nose: pretty, dark cherry, blackberry, plum, noble leather. Palate: Velvety wine, supple & elegant. Back end is a little hot on dry tannic finish. Long, with big grip and power. Serious wine, long. Red fruits at end with cedary tannins, fine-grained. Good wine. One of the top 5 at the tasting.

At this moment disappointing. Palate a bit lean and angular. Might be in a difficult stage.
