Opened this to go with an Australian grass-fed ribeye that was on sale.
Deep ruby in colour with a nice sheen. Scents of dark, sweet fruits, peppery notes, and wet earth. First taste was sharp on the tongue with noticeable acidity and oak. Decanted and aerated for two hours with very little sediment.
Two hours did wonders as the wine settled nicely. Lively fruit on the palate that balanced well with the silky tannins. Medium-bodied with good acidity to counter fatty beef. Good lingering finish to enjoy with each sip.
A very enjoyable wine and would buy again for <$60. Probably isn't much more room to improve but should hold for another five years or so.

I had found and earlier coravin sample to be rather hard going, but this seemed fruiter and much more convincing once opened and given some air. Actually rather ripe and softly attractive for a 2008.

From coravin. Tiniest bit of leakage. Very deep but not bright. Diffuse nose. Sullen, awkward palate. Outclassed by the "classed growths" in a 2008 line-up. Maybe though this bottle was not fully representative looking at other notes.

I was surprised how well this has aged. Soft in texture, with earth, blackberry and smoky nuances, popped and poured, this medium-bodied wine is drinking in its sweet spot.

Great stuff - kypsää marjaisuutta, tammea, st estephen rautaisuutta ja maaperän soraisuutta. Tanniinit jo tosi pehmeät, täyteläinen ja tasapainoinen. Hiukan ehkä kaipaisin jopa tanniineja, hapokkuutta ja back bonea viiniin lisää. Hieno esitys kyllä, nyt oikea aika juoda.

Way too early to open. Wife opened this and hated it because it was so rigid, so she recorked. I had it the next day at lunch and thought it was velvty smooth and lovely. Dark fruit and leather. I think this needs another 10 years, but it was certainly great 16 hours after opening.

Yes, yes, yes! What a great wine! Really nice bouquet, good fruit, complex, soft tannins, medium body, long finish... much more than I would expect for a second wine. Highly recommended and ready to drink.

Real closed down for a 5-year old 2nd wine. All sour cherries and grippy tannins, with mere hints of what is to come. There are some herbs and charcoal on the nose, and a touch of cassis. I'm betting this blossoms, if allowed several more years.

Tasted at the chateau. Bright fruit with a lovely mineral steak. Fairly open already. Technically, this wine is obviously well made; the balance is good and this should develop over the next few years. 2+ to 3-

Tasted this at Château Cos d'Estournel. Dark, thick, syrupy purple hues with ripe flavors of raspberry, blackberry, dark cherry and hints of plum, vanilla and oak. More fruit forward than the premier cru, and very youthful in character taking on a more modern approach with lots of depth and aromatic nuances. Finishes with a steely note with high mineral content. Good structure, balance and bright acidity. An excellent and delicious second wine from Cos. Drink from 2013 to 2023.

Bordeaux Trip, 4 days, 1st and 2nd Growths; 6/14/2011-6/17/2011 (Bordeaux): Medium dark red color. Second wine of Cos, a blend of 53%M, 45%CS, and 2%PV from the younger vines of the estate. The nose was quite nice with cassis, spices, raspberry and strawberry, subtle earth, and somewhat herbaceous/slightly green quality. The palate displayed silky tannins, good concentration and complexity in an impressive second wine. 90+pts.

Dark colour purple rim; fresh fruity nose; fresh deep powerful red fruit, depth, sweet nose, very round, non-tannic, one-dimensional; seems to have quite some potential; very nice this young

Unlike previous bottle, the second was very disappointing. Dull and lifeless even after many hours in decanter.

Needed a good 3 hours to breathe. Disjointed at first, but relaxed into a mellow, integrated, silky glass. Blueberries with a hint of spice.
