Very floral in the glass. Good acidity with pears and a lemon tartness. There seems to be a trend to oak viognier like it's Chardonnay, but Charles Smith doesn't go that route. Very solid QPR, and would recommend this to others.

Rich aromas of peach, ripe pears, and melon, with delicious, rich, ripe and plump orchard fruits in the glass. Medium-bodied, delicious acidity, and a vibrant finish.

Wow....nice. Very different than other viogniers I've had. This is med-full bodied, and the fruit screams on the palate and nose. Good acidity, very tasty. Really enjoyed. Will get more.

Very impressive, one of the most unique Viognier's i've ever tasted, aromas of fruity pebbles cereal (wOW), on the palate, a rich mouthfeel, with a incredible mixture of fruits that linger and I have never experianced in a Viognier, way to go Charles Smith! This is a fine example of of yet another wine that over delivers from K Vintners.

Notes from memory - this showed moderate apricot/peach flavors with a fairly crisp package. Medium bodied and fairly restrained as domestic Viognier goes with relatively high acidity and some fairly prominent minerals. Good to very good. Pretty good value too.

The Walla Walla Wildman: Charles Smith / K Vintners (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Pale gold with sweet aromas of honeysuckle, citrus, and apple. The palate has a beautiful glossy texture with good acidity and fresh fruit. Great flavors throughout with notes of lemon, lime, and Asian pear. This is very attractive and approachable with good balance.

lots of apricot on the nose. this would be a 92 or 93 wine if there was a little less acidity on the finish. reminded me a little of the Kongsgard, but with extra acidity on the finish.

Not sure this is the same wine I see being raved about. The nose is indeed floral with quite a bit of sweetness too. The pallet starts out with some minerality and promise but the end is more sweet than crisp. After some time open the sweetness on the end fades and leaves a more minerally finish but I'm not loving it.
I figured I needed to give this a second try the following evening and it had indeed improved considerably. My pallet the first night? Bottle shocked still? I don't know, but it turned into a decent wine.

10/3/09: Peaches and floral aromatics. Bright peachy fruit. Loaded with fruit. Touch of heat on the finish. This is very nice, but I'm not sure I'm finding the pure intensity and great structure that was with the '07. 88
9/14/09: Clean and bright. Great acidity. Lovely wine, but I need to retry. 89+

Scents of floral notes and tropical fruits are layered over a faint hint of minerality and quince. In the mouth this medium bodied wine offers up lush flavors of tropical fruits with good acidity and just enough weight. While not what I remember from just a few weeks ago...this is still an amazing wine.

Effusive floral and spice filled nose. Well balanced on the medium-bodied palate. Forward fruit is well matched with firm acidity creating an elegant feel. Palate is fruit filled from start to medium-long finish with apricots, flowers and peppery spices.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise...this was far beyond what I would have ever hoped for in a $22 bottle of wine. In the glass this was a pale yellow in color with scents of tropical fruits, floral tones, and a hint of minerality. In the mouth this medium bodied wine offers flavors of pineapple, citrus, pepino melon, and a hint of nuttiness that is backed by vibrant acidity and amazing structure. I will be buying more of this...

Walla Walla Visit, End of Summer 2009; 8/29/2009-8/30/2009 (Walla Walla, Washington): The nose is very gentle, with floral notes, some honey, and a hint of baking flour that makes it kind of interesting. The wine is super gentle from the start when tasted, but some wonderful acidity blooms quickly. Overall the wine is smooth, and the flavors are light, with some pear flavors being the most noticeable.

Between dry riesling and sauv blanc.., more toward sauv blanc. Fresh, bright, consistent with other CT notes. Liked very much.

medium bodied, a bit low acid, reticent aromatics, slightly off-dry, with a mild honeyed quality in the mouth. Underwhelming - didn't show well.
