Getting towards, but not quite in the tertiary phase yet. That’s where I enjoy these the most. In an ok drinking window as is. All of the components have come together nicely. Will continue holding the rest.

In a really nice place. Still some freshness with the Cabernet showing through(would have picked for more than the 20-odd %), lovely smooth mouthfeel, meduim body with soft tannins. Slight eucalypt edge with cocoa on dark fruits. Really enjoyed it and sorry don’t have another to try again in a couple of years.

The 2006 vintage was the last year they included “Estate” in the label. The reason I believe was that as the fruit was not truely “estate” grown and included grapes sourced from other growers in the Eden and Barossa Valley areas.
This Shiraz dominant blend including cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. Slight red bricking to the colour. A lovely complex wine with an array berry fruit, white pepper, anise and a little green tinge from the cabernet. Enjoy now.

The wine shows a clear and deep color with some lighter hues in the rim.
The nose is clean, high intensity, dense with full ripe red and black fruits, smoke, sweet oak, nutmeg, stewed fruit turning jammy, roasted almond, damp forest floor, green bell pepper, chocolate and coffee beans, opulent, rich, as profound and cliche aussie red as it can be. It feels fully developed
The wine is dry, full body with massive intensity, big and round tannins of velvety texture, balancing acidity, heat from the alcohol(14%), fruits in alcohol, ripe and stewed black berry and cherry, black currant, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper, layers of sweet oak and cedar, long finish.
Outstanding quality, premium price, drink now as I feel it has reached its peak.
There are some balsamic notes emerging which I hardly think be appreciated by the fans of this style.

contains Shiraz (68%), Cabernet Sauvignon (27%), Cabernet Franc (9%) and Merlot (8%). It appeared fresher than the D’Arenberg with berry richness, but it was the palate that did it for me: smooth and totally balanced, good acid, full bodied and a long finish. Secondary development is starting to kick in, indicating hopefully a lengthy life for this wine.

The nose is brooding - some mint and dark chocolate. Upon tasting the dark fruits hit you straight away. Some licorice and aniseed come out. But it's the long silky finish that makes this wine, a seriously long finish that drags you back for more. On the second day I was expecting it to slow up, but It's still going. A commanding wine.

Dark garnet. Expressive nose of camphor, mint chocolate, blueberries and tertiary notes of white truffles. Medium-bodied, silky-textured and perfectly balanced with a long aftertaste. At peak.

Very deep dark crimson! Vital and dense. Intense aromas of Dark Fruits as Plums, Cherries and Cassis. Fruit in Rum. Complex layers of Herbs and Spices. Hints of Lilac and Perfume. Eucalypt and Cedar. Powerful, fruit-forward and intense! More rich, concentrated Fruit flavors; mostly Dark Berries and Plums. Traces of Mushrooms and Earth. Finishes long, warm and smooth with vital Acidity, round Tannins, nice Fruit and a lot of Pepper. Beautiful texture, complexity and richness!
A full-bodied, powerful and, yet, elegant structured and balanced wine! Maybe a little bit too much pepper and alcohol on the finish. Still fantastic with great future potential! See more at cellartv.wordpress.com

Unknown provenance, not helped by screwcap, but it seemed ok. Garnet, some maturity setting in. Starts off with a lot of reduction, as per usual, then dusty low-key fruit, gradually opening up to reveal some really nice dark fruits, pepper, sandalwood, and hillside herbs. Full bodied on the palate, very silky, Burgundy-like, ripe crunchy fruits, incredibly well balanced. Long, harmonious finish with just a touch of heat. Very nice. The balance is most impressive--- far from your average Oz bruiser. Drinks well now but will probably improve. If only they would have sealed it with a proper cork.

(Cabin with Just, Ads, Geoff, Elaine, Chintz, Lisa & Jord, with Mich&Bo!) What an interesting shiraz-cab-merlot blend. Quiet nose, yet rich and sweet plums, cassis and leathers, harmonious flavors and nicely textured. Almost "neutral", as it were, such is it's purity.

Tastes like an old wine. Still has good spice and velvety tannins but not too much life remaining. Has been a good servant of my cellar

Drank is alongside a 2007 Rockford Basket Press shiraz and found this the nicer of the two - but drink now, as the wine tasted like it was at its best
