Deep golden colour. Aromatic, beeswax, dried apple and apricot, earth, and toasted hazelnut with a fino Sherry note. Dry, and round with beautiful flavor replays and surprisingly bright acid to balance. Very long, complex finish. I never would have guessed that this wine would age so well or be so attractive; the best thing I've ever had out of Beaucastel. 5/5

Hospice du Rhone; 5/3/2007-5/6/2007 (Paso Robles, CA): On the nose, there are oxidative notes, marzipan, and toasted brioche. Surprisingly light in color. On the palate, there is serious minerality, spicy acidity (so young!), granite, crushed stones, honeydew, fuji apple, and a bit of lemon zest. Very intriguing.

HDR- Day 2 Seminars (Paso): Slightly musty. Steely, with great acidity. There's some chalk elements, and a roundness despite the acidity. I found it distinct, and alive and well. But I could see how people would go either way with this wine. 92-93

Indian Food at Steve & Barb’s house: Light yellow in color, this wine showed a great balance of fresh, bright and vibrant fruit with a light bodied palate that tasted as if it had age to it but in no way oxidative. I wonder if this went through the classic White Rhone shutdown period where it tasted oxidated and if so it is amazing how it came out the other side. Lemon peel and beeswax were present and a long, but very light, finish closed things out. A great treat to start the evening. 50+13+13+9+9 = 94.

At lunch at Silk's restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in SF. With MPL. Gold color. Steel, lemon in the nose. On the palate, light-medium body, with toasty oak and lemony flavors. Very good balance. 5-10-16-7: 88/100.

The wine looks blonde colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle.
