90's Dujac Grand Cru and 2007 Ramonet: Youngest looking in a blind flight of 4 top 2007 Ramonet wines, with a green tint. Chalky mineral finish. This and what turned out to be Batard were the group favorites. Excellent indeed, but from this blind tasting Batard is the smarter buy for current drinking, and the Montrachet will probably be the better wine in another 5-10 years.

reticent at first and a demur nose. Lemon is the most present. we decide to let it sit and aerate. waited another 3 hours plus to return to it. I dare say close to perfect. both nose and palate showing more depth and delineation. Lemon recedes and mint, orchard fruit and some salinity dominate. juicy, tasty and complex.

Ramonet Montrachet Lunch (Phoenix, AZ USA): Rich and tropical, served blind and quite a few of us weren't even sure this was on theme. It came across as broad and less precise than the other wines today, a shocking reveal.

had this next to the 2010, this was fresher and more youthful (which raises some concerns about the 10), though i slightly preferred the 10. This is razor focused with acidity, impressively so, but lacking that extra level of charm/power that i'd want from Montrachet (94/95)

Slow oxed for 6 hours before consuming. It showed its class at its 9th hour. Minerals, gunflint, spearmint and vanilla on the nose. Lots of acidity and minerality on the palate accompanied by plenty of stuffing. Unlike the 07 ramonet 1er cru that is drinking at its early maturity, the Montrachet is still at least 5 years away from its early maturity. The weight and depth were unmistakenly Montrachet. Again, at this age, 10+ years, the difference between Ramonet's Batard Montrachet and Montrachet is not very significant. Give it patience.

Dinners around the HDH Auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Chicago IL): Popped-and-poured, then revisited several hours later. So much here but very backward and lacking expression tonight, either immediately or with air. Neither Ramonet performed up to prior experience (or expectations) tonight.

Was a bit reticent at first but within 10 minutes flint, white flowers, pineapple and a hint of mint. a pure laser like wine that continues to build with time and on the the palate. Drinking well today but time to go

La Paulée Chevalier Fête (Saison - San Francisco CA): Floral and mint along with complex orchard fruit, gingerbread and lemon peel aromas. Similar flavors are very fresh, but slightly backward behind lots of powerful structure. Slightly austere as a result today, but this has an amazingly long finish, and excellent potential.

2009 DOMAINE RAMONET MONTRACHET GRAND CRU- one of the most amazing white Burgs I`ve had in a long time; it had all of the attributes that makes up a spectacular wine; the colour was yellow gold; the nose had honeysuckle, lemon, apple and pear; the taste profile was more of the apple and pear with a touch of spice; the hallmarks for me were the mouthfeel, flavours and incredible balance; it had just enough viscosity to call it oily like which contributed to carrying all of the treasures over the palate to the back end and then with staying power; it was steady, round and seamless; a perfect wine IMHO

Has some toast, flint and white peach on the nose. As it breathes you get the cut pineapple of Montrachet appearing. It has great intensity, is layered, fresh and extremely long. Just entering its drinking window.

Ramonet Montrachet and Leroy Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Open an hour before serving. Lots of reserve and tightly wound energy. Lemon, mint, some baking spice hints on nose and palate. There is a backward sense here, clearly needing time for everything to emerge, but there is a lot here in reserve.
There was one glass left at the end of the evening, so bottle was recorked and refrigerated, then revisited the next afternoon. Lots more lemon, apple and spice came through beautifully, but this started fading after open again for 30-45 minutes. Like the 2008, this needs more time, but i don't think it will ever quite have the same great potential as that '08.

A seriously good bott opened seriously too young but you could sense its potential greatness. The nose was a refined combination of white peach, smoke, flint and white flowers. In the mouth a huge wave of high glycerol fruits overlay a solid mineral spine. With air there was a beautiful thread of aniseed running through the wine.

A weekend with friends in Germany Mosel area: Part 3: Beautiful and elegant bouquet with good minerals and beautiful oak. On the palate good citrus and well integrated oak as well as beautiful freshness. A really beautiful and complex wine with still a long future. 93 – 95

Dreamtasting #3 (Bernhard Eifel Restaurant, Trittenheim): (*, open label) I was impressed by the freshness and cleanliness of this wine showing beautiful nuances of vanilla, caramel, apricots and candyshop. Tasty, complex and distinguished wine which kept developing in a positive way during the evening. Unbelievably long and persistent aftertaste. Truly a grand seigneur. 18.5/20

Great wine, brought to the "Tasting of dreamwines part 3" in Trittenheim (Mosel, Germany). Of course far too young to drink now, but already approachable. Just in the glass very closed, but you can easily detect the depths this wine can disclose. After more than an hour in the glass, this was simply stunning. A great Montrachet and a great Ramonet! 20 points

Cru Crew Wine dinner hosted by Brad England (Mara restaurant at the Four Seasons hotel in Minneapolis, MN.): Served alongside the '92, '96 and '00. Very good wine. Light straw color. Citrus, spice and minerality on the nose. Very good balanced mid palate. If any complaint, would be slight lack of freshness. Solid wine however.

Plenty of good material, so some upside if this wine can hold it together. Much better after one hour of air time.
