We opened this at just the right time, although it still has lots of life left. Earthy & leathery undertones seamlessly integrated with beautiful fruit & oak notes that now show restraint. Good structure, with the acidity, tannins & body all working well together. One of those bottles where each new pour gets better as it evolves, and where 750 ml just wasn’t quite enough.

youthful...integrated...popped and poured and each glass got better over an hour. Cassis, brambleberry, earth. Not over the top ....nice and could easily age 10 more.

Le bois prend beaucoup de place. Même après quelques heures de carafe le vin présente peu de fruit. C'est bon mais peut-être qu'il manque un peu de substance pour accompagné les tannins. QPR pas très intéressant (60$).

Fine, balanced, structured . I drank this over 4 days and it hardly evolved. No drop off either. Fascinating. Pomegranate, licorice, cherry, jerky. Really nice wine, lacking a little wow factor that 2005 has. Holding for a year or more.

Ten years out is a wonderful time to drink this wine. Didn't need time to breath--was very ready to drink when opened. Deep and brooding in the glass, it is on the modern side for a Rioja, but was still very well balanced with food. Great structure and very seamless texture. Everyone was "wowed" by the 2006 El Puntido.

A refreshing nose of lemon scents and ripe fruit. A bit closed it seemed but definitely shouted tempranillo through the back and flavours were muted, but earthy graphite tones, rich berries and a gamey finish. Quite a meaty wine. I think it could do with another year in the bottle.

Eguren wines tasting with Marcos Eguren (Brussels): Dark red colour with purple notes. In the nose red and dark berries, aromatic-flowery with well integrated oak notes, some chocolate. On the palate slightly more than medium bodied, red and dark berries, aromatic and with good acidity, well integrated tannin. Young, but definitely approachable, and very pure aromas. 91-92 p? Slightly more elegant than San Vicente 2006, but not directly more powerful.

I'm glad we opened this, the cork crumbled in the process. Dark wine, cassis and leathery flavours.
