Received as a gift. I should have looked it up before pulling the cork. Infanticide but good. Agree with prior comments on the cherry nose and the benefit of some air. Nice finish. A little bit of tannin that should be better after a few years.

Bandols (Trent's): Slight cherries on the nose. Got slightly deeper with air. Juicy texture. Slight tannins. Upfront bright cherry fruit. Nice finish. Doesn't seem like much of an upside from here though.

From a half bottle smells of mushrooms with something a little spicy - fennel perhaps Lots of tannin initially. I decanted about four hours before and that helped Leather with some sweet fruit underneath Savoury, went very well with a beef doube Not that long Probably needs time

Lots of fruit and, herbs, a slight taste of blood but not in a bad way! Dry with full body and massive tannin, needs time! Not fully integrated right now but will earn 1-3 point given 5 years. Great stuff!

Retasted the day after at a low temperature (10°C) : much better. The cold rubbers the excess of alcohol, and within a day the fruits express themselves making a rich wine : in order of importance ; licorice, blackberries, sap , ink, ending on fresh red fruit as pomegranate. Now all the detail are clustered. I've notice that there's less tobacco or spice. Actually it is drinkable now, and of course it will age. An appellation that I know particularly, but I'm less expert this evening than usual, my nose has caught a cold.

Iron, tar and baked earth notes muscle their way through the ripe blackcurrants fruits in this full bodied dry red. It is generous and robust with plenty of underlying structure and whilst it is a wine for the cellar it drinks really well now.

Obviously too young to fully enjoy now but it is surely well made even if not showing very much at the moment. No fruit bomb or wine for competiotions here but an honest and authentic low key but very substantial wine provoking a lot of thought. Descpription: Color is a healthy looking medium garnet with a narrow purple rim. Nose is rather shy and shows better with airing. Aromas of complex sweet spices together with cedar nuances complement the faint but fresh berry and strawberry fruit. Palate is medium weight and tight but not unyielding, tannins are there but well framed despite being still astringent, acidity is medium to high. Flavors are very concentrated – bittersweet -with damson, cherry and strawberry, smoke and spice. Finish is has some black chocolate bitterness but is quite long. Very difficult to judge the wine at this stage. Moreover myself being a fan of Bandol, it’s not easy to be impartial. On day 1 I gave the wine 88 points for current pleasure. On day 2 texture became more silky and suave and aromas opened up a bit, hence 90 points. I would bet it could be sensational in 10 to 15 years from now, judging from the estate's track record.

Part of an exceptional vertical tasting we had at the chateau (2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008). See other vintages for comparative notes.... Lighter than the others. Made for early drinking. Remarkably authentic and enjoyable considering the difficulty of the vintage. Structured, perfectly dry, classy color. However, with all of the other great vintages to choose from, I passed it by.

Wide open, but tense, and very savory/animale. Iron and bramble. Black fruits, licorice, wineberry, blackberry, acid-driven.
