Agrapart Champagne is beautiful. If there were ever a Champagne that reminds the taster of the limestone soil in which it is grown, it is the Agrapart. There's just a touch of green apple on the nose but there's a salinity, or ground oyster shell bouquet that dominates on the nose. In the mouth this wine is medium bodied, so precise and layered, and shows off a persistent finish. There's complexity and style here that I can really appreciate with an overall impression of restraint but at the same time one does not have to go searching for aromas and flavors.

Half Bottle NV Champagne Tasting; 1/31/2009-2/1/2009 (Kirstin and Shane's): My guess is this bottle had 'aged' some years before we opened it. (Bought from a distributor who was liquidating with ridiculously low prices...). Anyway, the nose emitted scents of brie cheese and sweet, overripe apples. THe palate had the barest hint of oxidation, but mostly tasted of honeyed apples. A little 'worn' around the edges, the flavors had melded into a very nice pour. My WOTF

Great blanc de blancs Champagne from the small Agrapart family! Light yellow color and accompanying light citrus nose. Minerally with dried apples on the palate. Medium-bodied, very acidic, and very dry. Shortish crisp finish. Mediocre QPR. Overall, while very enjoyable, better values exist for the price.

Cliffside: Very light color; Minerals, light bread, citrus notes; mouth: Very focused, narrow mouth, rich at same time. Interesting. Very frothy bubbles, tons of effervescence. High class wine, but not easy. Recent release?

Chef's Dinner at Joe Grabow's (Sammamish, WA, USA): This was showing more dry and unforgiving than I recall, citrus, a bit clipped on the finish. This NV bottle has been hanging around my cellar since 1999 including a couple of years of passive storage. Younger, better stored examples are a lot more lush and complex.

This is a bottle that has been hanging around in my cellar since before the Y2K festivities, and it spend two of those years just sitting in a cupboard. As such I was worried it would be oxidized. Instead, this delivered a gorgeous bouquet that was slightly yeasty and nutty, with clean, crispy, lemony and mineral-laden elements on the palate. This was quite dry and very enjoyable. I have one more bottle that I am looking forward to opening. Did I mention that I need to cellar more Champagne?

Delicious! This shows light citrus and mineral on the nose with a stunningly creamy palate that shows a hint of tangerine. Awesome stuff!
