Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: February 2020 edition (@home): Glass: Zalto Universal Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Tasted blind at day one. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Smoky, herbaceous, could be Nahe Riesling. Deep, dense and complex. Beautiful! Dry, medium+ acidity. Very mineral, ripe yellow fruit, tangerine, grapefruit. Lots of pressure and tension, very good balance. Long and beautiful. Certainly at its full peak, but will stay there for at least 5+ years. 92-93

This wine is beginning to show a bit more golden fruit - ripe pears, white peach - but still feels quite young with high acidity and quite intense iron/chalk minerals. On the finish just a hint of sweetness. Good stuff, with a future.

A difficult vintage according to a German winemaker. Nevertheless this wine is very elegant with very clear fruit definition and persistence. Well made and only shortfall is the acidity which comes off a bit sharp on the finish.

Friday night blind BYO (Anders Condoe): Nose with tea leaves, light citrus and tropical fruit. High acidity on the palate. Spicy, with hints of butter.
