Brunello 2004 Horisontal (My House): Intense cherry fruit with a touch of coffee but also a lot of purity. It does have a funky/natural touch but overall, a great wine. Loved it!

This was an outstanding mature Brunelleschi. Leather, dark fruits and mildly perceived integrated tannins. It reminds me why I have a cellar. So I can pull a bottle like this at a dinner party

Forward nose of light red fruit, leather, game and wood. Very typical Brunello nose. The palate is well balanced and although the tannins are still notable they are fine and carried well by the intensity of flavours. Moderately long finish.

It's a bit oaky for sure, but has depth and complexity to match. Dark-flavoured, dense and still fairly tannic. Should keep and develop for another seven to ten. Last bottle in 2024?

We ordered the wine with dinner at Adler Thermae Spa & Relax Resort in Bagno Vignoni. The nose was very closed at first, but the wine developed red cherry, fig and cocoa aromas with air. On the palate the wine initially was pretty tight, but already pretty smooth right after popping the bottle, developing cherry, chocolate and earthy flavours with air, accompanied by fine, dry tannins. After further aeration the wine became creamier, then also showing vanilla and spices. The wine benefited from air, but remained less accessible than the 2005 we had the other day at a wine tasting. For drinking now I would prefer the 2005, the 2004 clearly needs another two to three years in the cellar. In addition, the Col d’Orica Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2000 we had two days ago literally killed this wine at a lower price.

This bottle had nice cherry notes and was in great shape. Much more lively when compared to Fuligni's 2004 which appeared to be fading.

Tasted again from previously accessed bottle via #coravin similar to previous notes. No degradation of the bottle at all.
