brick in color. Tobacco and herbs on the nose. Minimal fruit left, good secondary flavors. Last bottle. Liked it better in its youth. In spite of its age it still needed an hour of air time to be at its best.

Elegance in a Bottle (Pine Close): Tasted blind. I guessed correctly old left bank Bordeaux! I guessed 1990s, only to be pleasantly surprised that it was my birth year. Musty old Bordeaux nose which blew off with swirling in the glass. What remained of the nose was quite little though. On the palate, smooth old fruits, kind of like prunes. Tannins still quite apparent but not overly so. Medium finish. Overall a well aged old Bordeaux, but nothing really special or unique to leave a lasting impression.

Vertical tasting - Poujeaux (FOF): Coca-Cola edge but still good deep color towards the center. Nose with notes of tobaco, prunes and some gasoline?. The taste is elegant, with very light berry tones, tobaco, licorise and chocolate. The tannins are dry, but otherwise the aftertaste is pretty good. Closed down rapidly in the glass. This is properly past it optimal drinking window.

On its side in a 55 degree room since its release has done wonders for this wine. With great berry fruit and just enough tannins, this was an awesome drinker for only $25

Really nice, but still not there. Needs another few years. But, that must be said; every time this wine is a pleasure to drink. It is a good thing several of my friends and I bought multiple bottles and we taste this wine blind regularly at each others place.

Full bodied, cassis, liquorice, pleasant oak. The wine is in its young adolescent stage; starting to show its beauty, but still holding a promise. Keep for another 5 years is no problem at all.

With K at home at dinner (pizza). Dark ruby color. Inviting, attractive. Nose smells of fleshy, spicy fruit. Soft and elegant. Good flavor. Plump, round, very soft, but not flabby. Decent structure. Drinking extremely well right now. Has plenty of guts, but it's a soft wine. 5-10-14-6: 85/100.

With the poker gang at Dwight Dickerson's. Medium-dark ruby. Excellent nose: ripe, firm, and deep. On the palate, extremely powerful, full-bodied wine, though not overly tannic and even somewhat elegant. Chocolatey fruit, very long on the palate with a fairly complex, extended finish. Excellent wine, especially for $12.99.
Full bodied and still quite locked. One dimensional at the moment. There is cassis, liquorice, a firm dose of tannin and pleasant oak. Needs to soften. Give it time.

A private dinner (Amsterdam): Very energetic, lovely ripe fruit, well-balanced, elegant, drinking extremely well at 30.

Mature, but still a wonderful glass of wine.

Really a good wine. Very complete; oak and depth. But is starting to show signs of old age. Drink now or very soon.

Delicious. Not very fat, but good juice and acidity. At its peak now.

See other notes. Is reaching maturity, but needed several hours of air to show its merits. Excellent wine.

Drank in a restaurant with my parents. Is opening up just slightly and offering more pleasure than two years ago, but still needs several (5+) years.
