Might have been great once but now on the decline. Petroleum nose, alcohol and faded red jam. Will be nice with sous vide steaks but my hopes had been higher given other reviews.

A bit of ethyl acetate on the nose when first opened which fortunately blew off after an hour. Tasty with grilled NY strip, but clearly on the decline. Drink up!

--- COLOR: Garnet w/light garnet-brick rim NOTE: Nose is mesquite-smoked boysenberries, tobacco, hints of dark chocolate. Mouth is medium-heavy, slightly rough & tannic, a bit of heat, but still some nice ripe blackberry juice and black currant jam. Finish has a nice sage element & is a little drying & black fruit seems a bit tired, but it's still an overall satisfying wine that has made for a good old soldier.

A nicely layered cab. Tons of chocolate up front with some coffee, eucalyptous, mint and some dark fruit. Medium finish. A nice representation of a single vineyard Cali cab and it's terroir.

Very dark color and the palate is tar, bitter chocolate. Fruit is moving to the background. Went well with NY strip steaks. Didn't taste lively however. Think it is slightly past its prime but still borderline outstanding.

Ripe fruit without being jammy. Solid tannins without drying or being offensive. Oak still played a large role in the flavors. Drink now with a short decant or hold short term. Outstanding. 92-94

Dark purple, closed nose, some dark fruit with quite a bit of coffee. Just not much on the palate, some chocolate, dark fruit, tar, but all in all pretty mellow, and nothing stood out. Reasonable, but standard and diisappointing.

Otis requested this bottle when visiting with his ohana. Happy to oblige! This is one of the best wines I have had so far this year. Evolved over the course of several hours from a tannic, oaky bruiser with loads of dark cherry, mocha, and hint of mint. With time, more savory notes came to the fore, with eucalyptus, licorice and a beefiness.

Decanted 2 hours, then open 2 more...and not even close to ready to drink. This wine is set up like a diamond creek or an araujo eisele. Massive tannic structure with strong red and black fruit. I'm super disappointed that I cracked it this early...Cellar for 5-7 more years.

This is a well structured wine with ample concentrated ripe fruit. Rich flavours with chocolate and toasty oak coming thru to the end. The tannins are still tight after opened for 3 hours.

Drank this along with 1999 ands 2001 Quiceda Creek and that was unfortunate for this wine. It was still an excellent to outstanding CA Cab. Nice red fruit, not as tight as the 2001 QC and more drinkable now.

Well balanced and very well structured. As usual the fruit is outstanding; currant, black cherry and blackberry. Very toasty vanilla long, long finish. This wine goes on and on. A truly exceptional effort.

Wine Spectator Grand Tasting (Marriott Hotel, San Francisco, CA): Well balanced and completely delicious. Intense fruit flavors/aromas of currant, black cherry and blackberry. Finish delivers flavors of vanilla and chocolate. Long, long finish. Top 5 WOTN.

I thought this was too sappy, which is surprising for the vintage. Otherwise it was deep and rich, I would not buy more Delectus wines until you try other bottles.

Still going strong! Big fruit, great balance of stout structure, and long finish.
Still has a big, complex story to tell!
