At a private dinner, Bardon, Qld. This wine opened initially quite closed but with time in the glass revealed dark berry fruits with a nice touch Asian spice and forest floor. The palate is quite dense and compact suggesting plenty of future evolution but equally plenty of flavour and lovely spice to provide a savoury finish that was quite distinctive on the night.

Dark fruits here. Deep set. Reluctant nose at first. Medium bodied, with an earthy savoury component. Tannins still present, but are fine and melding away.

nice rubis bien compact, légèrement tuilé. Robe ouverte, mature, truffe, complexité, ultra fin ! une bonne structure qui peut encore tenir des années, malgré une attaque un peu timide

Deep garnet centre with some loss of colour only at the rim. Such a dense nose of bramble and hedgerow. Palate is luxuriously deep with sophistication but not complexity. Some chalky tannins come through on the decent length finish.

Overall sincerely disappointed vs the expectation. The wine has a strong body, but it's either too soon too drink it, but there is hardly any distinctive flvor
Éclat, gras, separation du disque gras Fermé. des touches de minéralité (on sent le verre ?), réglisse caramel. Une bonne longeur en bouche avec des notes toréfiées.

Popped and poured. Surprised that the cork lacked any identifying information of the wine. (I bought this wine direct from the importer.) Attractive nose - deep set red and blue fruits, so perfumed, a hint of sous bois. The palate is delicious and follows the aromas nicely. It's beautifully weighted, has spicy elements, and a quenching freshness. So well balanced - there's lots of fruit still, which is clothed in well tempered oak and acids. there's an intensity, but it's also light on it's feet. A slightly drying finish. Lovely now, and could easily hold also.

2005 Burgundy (La Trompette, London): Dark fruited. Nose alternates between mute, sweet fruited and savoury. Settles down nicely to a dark core of red fruit. A little lighter and more red-fruited than the Echezeaux alongside. Starts to dry a little on the finish. Fairly solid but perhaps lacking flair. ***(*)

In a word... POOR. Beyond disappointing. This wine is a miss in many respects. Hollow and unbalanced. Has a bite that really hits you over the head and worst of all that bitter finish. Would totally avoid this grand cru.

Non expressive at first but length very subtil and keep structure over time --> should age well
