What happens to a modernist Barolo at age 30+? Lovely sweet fruit, reflects winemaker’s focus on ripeness and plush texture, but at the expense of the more mineral and earthy notes, and more assertive tannins, that mark more traditional winemaking.
Lovely to drink right now. Not a profound Barolo, but very well made, with less of a modernist profile than might be expected. After 30 years the oak is well integrated and what stands out is a terrific and more classic older Nebbiolo profile.

Medium to light red. Faint nose of peppermint and must. Sour apple and dried mushroom to taste with lingering charred wood on the finish. Not complex or deep though earthy and homey wine. In a good spot now.

tasted like an overly oaked, too young, wine on night one, there was some body and some fruit but just felt young and the structure was in your face… on night two and three the structure settled down but unfortunately all other palate elements faded completely, frankly on nights two and three this tasted like oak water… not good, could have been a poorly cared for bottle but not clear

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity and nice supporting tannins. There is a somewhat plush quality with very nice and layered tones of mint, roasted herbs, roses, dark red cherries, and some licorice tones.
Overall: This was a very nice and mature barolo. It showed a more robust side than the other barolos and barbarescos did and was a nice contrast.

Round supple, almost opulent. Sweet and round, with rose petals, goudron, and spice. Most of the wood has integrated and everything is in a good place now. 92 pts

Tasted April 20, 2006 at and offline at Danielle’s Osteria in Dallas, TX. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, suprising clear hue throughout. Nose of briar patch, leather and brooding dark fruits. Just a smidge of a medicinal charachteristic in there as well. Flavors of black licorice, earth and some bitters. Drink now. Value is acceptable.

Dallas Blur Tasting 2003: Touch of tawny in the glass. Sweet licorice nose. On the palate it shows bottle sweetness and some moderate acidity. Not bad.

Waxy minty cinnamon nose. A couple people also suggested butter and cream. Sweet and rich minty detergent Band-Aid. Quite fruity and likable on the palate. Nice.

Bearserkerfest Night 1-Piedmont Table (Blue Star Wine Bistro, Chicago IL): Nose: Showing a different take on the nose with some mint, cinnamon spices, roses, roasted herbs, and dark red cherries. There is nice depth with this showing a more robust quality as well.

Heading to a great place. Incredibly rich and multilayered. Good aromatics. See note on Squires board.

Nice wine but overshadowed by other wines on the table. Nose was great right out of the chute, then seemed to subside with time.
