(Sunday Dinner at Mich&Bo's w Chirong) Dark dusty berries, powerful nose, spice, sour cherry, rather savoury. Richly concentrated palate, cool acid, juicy dark berries, finishing with darjeeling sweetness. A surprisingly powerful Yarra, and drinking well now.

PnP at cellar temperature. Presents as garnet with a wide amber rim. The nose carries a mature bouquet of mushroom/black olive and moist tobacco, but through all that some fresh cranberry aromas shine through. On the palate, the last note is correct; the tannins are very fine, soft, and hard to identify, and the acid is disproportionately high. Even so, cranberry and tobacco flavors are clear the midpalate, and the finish is persistent and cranberry- and spice-driven.
This was our first experience with aged (or any) South Australian Pinot noir. Thankfully, it was a positive one, and we will seek out Coldstream Hills wines in the future. We'll rate this wine "very good-to-excellent," 90/100.

A light garnet colour. The nose is more spice than fruit but the palate has a good dose of fresh raspberries and vanilla. Great length. Fine tannins. Has aged very well compared to the 2007 which faded sooner. Really very nice.

Deep garnet. Powerful spicy brambly nose with cherry and raspberry fruit. Powerful, silky and balanced palate with a lingering savoury finish. Solid Yarra pinot.

(a winter's eve slow roast with Mich&Bo and Newan) Clear ruby in the glass. Dark nose of earth, raspberry, cherries, sous-bois and smoky shoyu. Elegant and clean berries, red fruit, and even some hawberries, along with asian spice. Good density. Sinuous texture and savory buillion and meaty mushrooms emerge, quite concentrated and focused, along with mulchy forest floor, wet earth, and musky old socks, leading finally to a clean, long, and spicy finish along with some smoke (gunpowder). An intense, elegant drop, quite feminine. Fruit-driven on the nose blending seamlessly to earthy textural characters on the taste - a beautifully balanced, approachable wine with agreeable old-world characters. Special!

{screwcap} Slightly sappy smoked cherry nose. Still youthful and fresh. The palate isn't all fruit; there's a tobacco and composty note to the flavours too. It's light-bodied, with soft dusty tannins and some raspy acid. Does sit mostly towards the front of the palate, and has a medium-length finish than ends just a bit warm. Solid pinot, not more.

NobleRottersSydney - Melbourne Dress Circle (Alio's, Surry Hills): [screwcap, 14%, A$35] {David} Not far from the Moss Wood in style; generally darker in aromas and flavours, but also lighter. Perhaps a little more development is apparent among the generally similar aromas & flavours; chocolate-coated strawberries and a smoky tinge (not bushfire, I hasten to add). There’s a sweetness to the flavours here; although neither wine has green or stalky aspects on offer. Light-medium body, medium length finish. Seems ready to drink, until you try the next wine…

A very well made Pinot. Dark cherry fruit filled the nose, quite fleshy and broad with heady cardamom spice and forest floor notes. The palate was neat and flavoursome.

Ripe and loaded with flavour. Doesn't leave you wondering. Toasty creamy oak fills out the palate nicely. A good beginners wine such is the slutty, smokey cherry fruit.

Red cherry on the nose, with bright red fruits on the palate, the real complexity of this wine comes on the mid to back palate with mocha spice and excellent tannin structure coming to the fore.
Chocolate straight off the noise, berries and smoke Smoke lingered in palette, I don't think 08 was a fire year. Drank over 2 nights, opened up well on second night. Oak may be a bit over bearing however was an enjoyable bottle

At the tail end of the drinking window - almost no tannins left, high acidity - becoming disintegrated.

Nice fruits (cherries and rasperries) with a hint of smoke on nose. Soft with a touch of sweetness around the oak influences on the palate
