  • Had an "oh crap" moment on first sip -- after nice aromatics it was tannic and astringent befitting a young Vougeot. Decanted for 10 mins then poured back in. Bottle opened up naturally, and beautifully, from there -- fantastic, elegant wine. Tannins round out and integrate. Is it a knock your socks off Grand Cru? No -- more on the 1er scale at this point, but excellent nonetheless and extremely enjoyable both viscerally and intellectually. Experience tonight instructs a "hold for at least 3-5 years" strategy (as does past experience with older Millot Vougeots).

  • it looks likely to be capable of withstandig at least 5 year in bottle, smells of pungent herbs, fresh red fruits, roasted game, and a hint of rose petal.
