This pours light garnet in the glass with medium bricking. The nose is transitional old school and complex showing dried orange peel, iron, pepper, old leather, herbs de Provence, dried currants, dried cherries and only a vague touch of the overripe raisin fruit you sometimes get in the southern rhone. The palate features medium minus tannin that has been nicely sanded down over time and medium plus, bright berry and orator peel tinged acid. The finish isn’t terribly long but replays dried cherries, leather and dried herbs. Lovely wine that is really a strong representation of quality aged CdP.

Last bottle was held over years as this wine needs time - dark ruby color with long legs - very intense nose with rhubarb, cherries and leather - flavor with sweet berries and ripe tannins - very long finish

from 3.0 l, double-decanted. med red w/umber rim; red plums, spice cake, pepper, underbrush; med/+ weight; red tangy fruits, earthy, black pepper, faintly bitter, straightforward & not especially distinctive, but traveled around a multi-generational table well-enough to sufficiently please the masses.

This finally came around and is very pleasant. Definitely one dimensional, but just went into tertiaries and is soothing. This would be nice with sausage or some sort of slow roast/braise thing.

Musty, pruny nose but still some deep red currant hints. I was concerned that this would not be a good wine, but the mouth was still full and round with firm tannins on the finish. The acid has dissipated and this wine is on its last legs. But very enjoyable.

I think this wine may have crested and is now past its best. I would drink it up while it is still very goo. The smooth round wine has no hard edges or appreciable tannic edges left. It is mellifluous and tasty without any extraordinary feature.

I'm glad I did not hold this last bottle any longer. It was at a great place, but it is not going to improve, so why risk it starting to slide? Very enjoyable.

Les Pallieres is becoming our "go to" wine for grilled lamb. This wine won't, IMHO, be getting any better at this point so drink now. Elegant may not be quite correct word for a Gigondas but at this age, that is the thought that crossed my mind whilst drinking it.

Lovely. It is at a very nice point in it's life, while it has mellowed over the years, it is not lacking fruit and not tired. It got better as the evening went on. I've had at least a half dozen of this vintage over the years and have an enjoyed them all. I'm going to hold my remaining bottle a few more years.

TN: Garagiste Wines at Marouch PT. II: I opened this 4 hours prior to serving. Inital taste/smells where not very revelaing at all. At service, notes of garrigue, black pepper and lavendar on both the nose and palate. Nice evolution, currently showing a suave fruit profile. Very well balanced. Nice length on the finish. A very nice wine. I can't be certain this was a Garagiste purchase, but my entry note on cellartracker show it that way. In any case, it was a nice addition to the line up.

Seattle Round 2: Rhone vs. Rhone Ranger (Seattle, WA): I remember drinking this wine around 2003 and really likeing it so it was a treat to get to taste it 5 years later. The nose has some mint, pink flowers, and raspberry. Soft tannins that are well integrated. It was fun to taste this again.

Dark ruby color. Lots of great stuff going on here. Long and lush. Total blast to drink. Lots of life left in it and would love to see it in five to ten years.

I opened and it had an antisceptic nose. On the tongue, it lacked any fruit flavours. The color was still dark so aging does not seem to be the answer. I suspect the bottle was off.

Excellent Gigondas, quite masculin and alcoholic but with time in the glass showing more sweetness. Best with food. Will improve for another 3 years or so.

Tasted 2/15 at the Rhone Valley tasting. The wine was smooth, and just a little bit earthy - very good wine with food (lamb). I liked this one a lot. It was a good example of the Rhone region, but not too overwhelming.

Opened for my son’s 21st birthday. This has held up incredibly well! Dried cherries, smooth and delicious. Wish I had more than one bottle!

Brawny, into tertiaries, pleasurable, simple. Think burgers, fall, and football. Perfect for that.

Still a very primary wine. Plummy, a little drying, honestly I was a little underwhelmed. But could turn a nice corner in the future.

Really nice wine, mature tasting. Also really opened up over 90 minutes or so, fleshing out and developing.
