Score was a compromise. One of us gave it a 89 or 90 the other a 87. High scorer loves zins while the more conservative found it too sweet and missing her beloved tannins. We both agreed it has a nice peppery flavor.

--- COLOR: Purple-garnet NOTE: Pruney nose, probably a little past it's prime and not stored under ideal conditions. However, mouth was nice with a depth of blackberry jam & tobacco. Finish was a little bit hot but carried 30 seconds of black fruits. Went great with the food.

Blackberry and boysenberry jam on the nose with hint of rose petals. Very dark garnet in color. Big, jammy, chewy flavors of ripe red fruits, dust, and brambles with hint of eucalyptus and cedar. Another great one from Tobin James!

Purple - deep ruby. My favorite of the TJ zins this vintage. Sweet in all respects, this will not do it for some folks. Nose is redolent with blackberry/raspberry reduction sauce, cherry pipe tobacco and hints of tar. Mouth is rich with glycerin and what seems to be some residual sugar, exploding into more blackberry jam and leather. Finish is pleasantly sweet, about 20 sec long, abounding with more black fruit, noticeable heat but no bitterness that can sometime plague TJ zins.

A rose by any other name is still a Zinfandel. Deep, dusty ruby - 90% saturated. Nose of bramble, blackberry pie, vanilla, and slightly intrusive alcohol. Smooth and slick, medium-bodied, light and easy tannins. Not as unctious or succulent as other TJ Zins but a very nice profile of fruit and I could give it some credit for refinement if the alcohol didn't show as strongly as it does. Medium length finish (4+11+14+7) = 86

Plummy, almost pruney. Good balance, soft tannins. Nice

Drink it; enjoy it. We drank it without food and we enjoyed every peppery sip.

Blueberry with cinnamon, brown sugar, coffee, and all spice on the finish. This is almost a fruit bomb with barely adequate acidity.
