Siggy's Annual BBQ (Chez Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Light-medium gold color. Drank a glass from magnum. This was in excellent shape, clearly California with a round, unctuous texture, full bodied, glycerin, butterscotch, impressive depth with layers of fruit; pineapple, golden apple, long and caressing. 93+pts.

Pretty much dead. No fruit. Just vanilla butterscotch caramel oak. I have had these at age 5 and they are amazing. I guess they just can't go 14 years. but how many new world chards can. I have no doubt this was great 10 years ago.

dark yellow, very nice nose of vanilla, pineapple, ripe pear; vanilla & spice beginning but soon turns to oak/woody character, underlying ripe pear, mild butterscotch, very full body; wood and oxidised character less prominent w food, shows it's stuff; unfortunate heavy,sl sweet cloying finish

This was given to me under the mistaken impression that it was too old. The stoney minerals, rich chardonnay fruit, and heavy glycerol of the wine turned me on. Not sure what its price is -- I would be willing to pay $60-$70 for it.

Over the hill. There was a strong madeirized quality to the middle, and a powerful chemical component to the finish. This wine died very quickly. It should have lasted for more than 7 years. I am not impressed.

i'm out of this wine from my own cellar, but i'm almost positive this is a bottle i gifted to the supplier. it's on the money tonight, too. everything i like about holding these wines 5-8 years from vintage gets validated in this bottle. smooth fruit, and totally integrated oak. fab.

Friends in our monthly tasting group celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary by hosting a magnum party and opening some wonderful bottles from their cellar. Tasted from magnum, this was my favorite of the Chards. Along with the pear and toast notes, this exhibited a minerally aspect that I enjoyed. Good mouthfeel and weight, and well-balanced.

Stunning!!! My whites are typical of those go well with Thai, ect. We have never had a white that was such a huge wine, my wife said it was "thick". It coated the mouth, liquid silk. Huge pinapple and hot buttered popcorn on the nose and both followed thru on the along with some spice I can't quite figure out. This was the best white wine we have ever had. Served with cold Dungeness crab and drawn butter, excellent combo.

Tasted side by side with the Brewer Clifton Chard Sweeney Cyn. Both excellent chards. This was more complex but had mloa lactic flavors dominating. The majority prefered this wine.

Pale golden hue. Starts out with a wonderful, mellow combination of cantelope, pear, and nectarines. But... very oaky. The wine turned bitter on the midpalate and harsh on the finish. This could have been an off bottle, but this was purchased and stored under the same conditions as all the others.

The word that comes to mind with this wine is "pear". Interesting vanilla and lemon notes too. Started out a bit harsh but blossomed nicely in the glass.

Thick and unctuous, with layers of pear, vanilla, and cream. Loads of toasty oak, but the oak is nicely held in balance by the fruit. Should probably be consumed over the next 2-3 years.

Drank out of magnum and showed exceptionally well. I would not have thought it was 22 year old CA chardonnay.

As always, PM quality shows through. Thick, a bit unctous, and in the end pancaked by an 05 Girardin Caillerets served after it.

Enjoyed this at a private dinner party in our home. Paired very well with salmon appettizers and with grilled shrimp. Best served slightly chilled.
