One last time... it's still drinking pretty darn well. Last two bottles are both uncorked and checking them out over the next few days. (Yeah I know, have to update the online cellar) Still a great QPR if you have them. The original bright red cherry has faded a bit, and it's definitely lost some body... but its still got some solid body left. Another round of Spring Cellar Cleaning 2010.

This was a strong red -- the smell was a bit much at first, but toned down. Great with Mexican food, and we enjoyed the rest of the bottle after dinner too; it really mellowed out on its own, but was pleasant still. I really enjoyed this wine.

Soft and flabby, with decently juicy red fruit and spice but no structure. There's little in the way of acid or tanning to give this wine backbone or complexity, so it just sort of limps across the palate.

Medium body, intense fruit. CHERRY COLA BOMB! Finish that won't stop. Apparent oak with some solid vanilla. Almost Dr. Pepper in a ZIN. Very nice for the money.

Dark fruit with a little white pepper and other spice on the nose. Basically the same on the palate. Turning to cherry cough syrup on the finish. Overall, not too bad but 78 points is not good enough for a $15 wine.

This, like the 04, stands out as a great wine value for Zin. Pairs especially well with some mild to medium spanish and mexican dishes.... Among the best n it s class for this price range..

The 'zork' is cool! Darker fruit on the nose and palate ... had it with ground beef enchiladas. Not as good as a Zingaro Zin, but still quite good. I need to try this one with a good steak ... I think it might be a better match. This isn't as 'spicy' a zin as I had remembered at wine tasting.

Finally a full bodied, delicious smooth Zin. Amazing bouquet, almost like a port. Had it with Chicken parmesan and it was great. Plum, cherry, smoke and jam with just a tingling of tannins present. It could be more concentrated to live up to the bouquet, but all in all I dig it much-o. I'll be keeping a couple bottles of this handy as an anytime wine.

This bottle is this month’s winner of the Dang Eunice! Award. It’s got a funny crazy label that makes you wonder can this be good? YES, it can and it is. Plungerhead is disarmingly delicious in a purple-teeth kind of way. Full-bodied. Condensed, ripe berry and plum fruit. You might want to hold your glass with both hands! If that were not enough, it has a closure called a “zork.” You pull the strip around the bottle and pull up on the knobby top. It’s a reusable stopper! Dang! 14.8% alco, zork (D 6, F 6.5; SoPo)

A decent bottle of Zin. Nothing really special here. Seemed weak if not watered down to me. Some flavors of red fruit and spice. It paired well with the steak we had for dinner. Just needed to be more extracted in my eyes to earn a higher score. Would drink again, but wouldn't go out and seek. Decent QPR for the $10 price point.

Plummy nose, rich in the mouth. Surprisingly low level of spicy/peppery notes. Very straightforward.

More refined and less robust than some Zins, though I personally prefer bigger Zins. Still, a nice bottle of wine.

Gibby's Uncorked, Flight III (Gibby's Wine Den, Geneva, IL): Garnet color. Notes of dusty red fruit and white pepper. Reticent red fruit flavors on the palate.

Dark berry fruit with a hint of vanilla on the nose. Spicy, dark fruit palate. Oak spice lingers on the finish. Okay QPR at $19.

Interesting Zin. I tried this during a "earth and spice" flight. I would like to buy a new (fresh) bottle and try it again.
