at the risk of running the price up for myself this is just spectacular value at around $25. great acid mouthwatering and just begs for another sip and another. impossible to not drink right up in 15 minutes. seriously one of the best value rieslings ive ever had. age has added maybe a little complexity and toned it down just the slightest, rounded the edges just a touch, but this could still age for a decade or more i'd imagine.

Here I am a full 4 years after the last tasting note. The bottle I opened was fresh and lively. The color is a very light gold with a hint of sunset salmon (perhaps its the light in this room). There is a slight effervescence in the glass. The nose has a clean waxy vinyl smell complimenting the peach, nectarine and apple smells. The palate is not exactly an explosion, but a pleasantly assertive mouth full of nectarine, peach and apple sprayed with bit of lime juice and a sprinkle of sugar. The effervescence is not noticeable on the palate. This was a very delightful, surprising and pleasant exerience. There is one more bottle in my cellar to cherish.

It's been 18 months since my last bottle, and this is still showing really well. Aromas of orange blossom, grapefruit rind, along with sweet honey and marmalade notes. White peach, nectarine and bruised apple fruit lead the way to notes of slate and honeycomb. The residual sugar is tamed and balanced by the zesty acid, which came out more and more with time in the decanter. This has gotten subtle with age. Still a delicious riesling, but I think it's nearing the end of its peak. Might start getting apple juicy in a few more years.

This has aged well, but its still fresh and lively. Orange blossoms and white peach and lychee on the nose. The palate is intense, like a compact ball of acid, fruit and minerals. Delicious, complex and lovely wine. Drank with Sib and Jeff.

Enjoyable but completely overwhelmed when poured alongside the '01. It's full of bright peachy fruit, seems a little lusher and sweeter than the '01 without the same acidity and precision. Very nice.

What a treat! The residtual sugars have melted a bit since the last bottle I drank (18 months ago) and this wine has turned into something special: loads of tropical fruits (passion, kiwi) slathered with minerality, textured but not cloying, brilliant acidity, excellent length. Yum!

Nice bright acidity, lots of delicate mineral flavors with a slightly sweet backing. More tart grapefruit and a bit of tropical fruit, compared to the more green apple-ish profile that you get from MSR. There's also some spice in the background as well that I can't quite put my finger on.

Another fine dragonstone, very clean, almost bell-like in its purity. Consumed with Pakistani food which was a nice match but not conducive to careful tasting notes. Residual sugar was a bit much for me tonight--maybe it's just my mood right now, but I think I'll cellar my remaining bottles for a few years and see if some of the sugar melts away.
Note: three days later, I drank the rest of this wine--which was markedly better than it had been on day 1. (Wine was kept in fridge during intervening period.) I'm definitely going to cellar my remaining bottles for a couple years.

Really pale color. Tropical fruits on the nose. On the palate, heavy pineapple, citrus and some pear, little minerality and a bit of 'fizz'. This is way more acidic than the '03, short finish. Overall a pretty nice wine for the price. I'll have to try that again in a few months.

Very good example of Rheingau reisling, but it lacks the additional level of sweetness that takes a riesling to my next level. Rheingau's always display a heavy helping of tart green fruit and some petrol notes. This wine is no exception. I also picked up some slate and pineapple notes. As I hinted earlier, the only thing that keeps the wine from going higher is the amount of acid to sweetness. Just a touch too acidic, would love to see it mellow out.

Excellent bottle of Riesling. Very smooth. Better balanced than the '03, but still what I think of as Spatlase level perceived sweetness. Not complex, but an excellent wine. Would definately buy more of this. White / yellow fruits and minerals. Best wine in this price range, bar none.

Another vintage of the most hyped QbA in the history of internet wine writing. Again it's an easy drinking winner, although our lovely exchange rate has meant a serious hit to QPR.
Lively lime, orange and Sweet-Tart™ aromatics. Pleasingly acidic on the palate with all the citrus and peach you can pack in a bottle. My only quibble is that the acid catches a bit on the back end. This has been an issue in previous vintages when young, and with a few extra months it integrates rather well.
Good drinking now, I actually think it will make a much better summer sipper for summer 2006.

Holy cow! Considering that the notes I've read on this have been flattering but not glowing I'm a bit in shock. There was very little color to this wine, a very light yellow green. The nose was very perfumed, very floral with hints of lime, nutmeg & other spices - also a touch of petrol, perhaps only because I was looking for it. Initially the palate is hit with a massive wave of pineapple, a touch of lemon and a huge grapefruit finish that went on forever. I found this wine to be extremely well balanced - an incredible amount of acid kept in check by just the right amount of sweetness. Very refreshing, hardly a simple quaffer. For me this was a very enjoyable, wonderfully complex riesling.

Very light, clear color with a mineral and citrus nose. Lacking a little of the sweetness that I remember in the 2002, I did not try the 2003, with what seemed like a more pronounced acidic quality that revealed lime and a little bit of a green apple taste. Easy sipper for warm weather, not perfectly balanced, but for the price a very reasonable and enjoyable summer wine.

Quite a nice quaffer. I found it more balanced than the 2002 version (which I liked). It did have a bit of the limey quality I liked in the 02, but seemed more integrated. Went well with dinner, lacking only a bit of concentration to give it a higher score. I liked it...rating: yum.

This smelled and tasted almost as if someone had mixed a can of pineapple juice with some powdered lemonade mix. Fairly sweet, and with lots of acidity, but the timing seemed to be off. Rather than being balanced, the wine tasted a bit sweet and flabby at first and then overly acidic on the midpalate before finally pulling it all together for a nice, complete finish. This was much more balanced the first time I had it. Nevertheless, it was a very refreshing and enjoyable riesling which would certainly merit a higher score if everything integrates.

Intense fruit and mouth presence in this one. It stood out in a commercial tasting of ±150 German and Austrian whites as a uniquely vivacious German Riesling, refreshing and bold, while maintaining balance and dignity. The mix of tropical fruit, grass and stony soil origins is complex and satisfying.

I was excited to see this had come in, so I bought a bottle and had it with dinner. I've had the 2002 (which I liked very much) and the 2003 (which I found flabby). Very pale yellow color. Light nose of petrol; as it opened up, it took on more fruit: apple and lime. Light body, crisp acidity, not too sweet, nice structure and balance. Not a great riesling, but for the price, very tasty.

Light and bright. Better depth of fruit than '03. Ripe pears, pineapple, quince. A bit sticky on the tongue, but nice finish. A very lush quaffer for the summer to be sure.
