  • This still tastes young. Full-bodied but still somewhat green, with a bit of tartness. It's impressively lively for a 26-year old, but it's still not offering enough of the richness you might expect from its big brother, and I don't think that more age will solve the problem. That said, we still enjoyed it.

  • Bought at hotell restaurant in Bibbona. Had in hot car and in suitcase on airplane so was a bit worried about condition. Cork and wine in excellent condition. The nose showing ripeness and age in a really good way.
On the palate perfect maturity and awesome fruit followed by great tannin structure. Drinking very well right now, actually think it might be peaking, dont know how it could evolve more. Great wine.

Etrusco at The Savory, 8a Moray Place, touted to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Dunedin, New Zealand, South Island.

1997 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove (Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri)
2nd wine of Ornellaia. NZ$55! Tile red. A soft bouquet of black cherries, leather and menthol. Pretty good acidity, sweet smooth tannins, blackberries, a hint of herbs and raspberries on the finish. Medium body, medium length. Matured and drinking very well. Enjoyed it.
