  • Garnet color, whisper of strawberry, menthol, and some wet forest floor. Still has some tannin kicking in tbe glass. Burst of flavor, fades to leather, then you get a mouthful of berries and candied cherries on the back end.

Really enjoyable bottle for the price and it’s held up strongly in the cellar. Thankfully, I have two more to compare this tasting to down the road.

  • Nose of dark fruit and forest. Grippy tannins on the palate with dark fruit and a bit of wood. Good wine, definitely made for food.

  • Begins with a blast of funk on the nose on the PnP that quickly dissipates followed by some subdued red fruit. Sip reveals the wine to be a touch astringent with lingering sour red fruit (but not just cherries). Touch of a herbaceous edge to the nose, but no barnyard funk after being open 2-3 minutes. It tastes a bit hot at 13.5%. Letting it catch some air. Showing promise as a weekend pizza/pasta wine.

half hour in and it's obviously a good food wine (blending great with the Italian sub I'm scarfing). Quite a bit of sour cherry flavor with a touch of character behind it, but not enough to make this a stand-out wine. It's refreshing, but much better with food than as a quaff-er. Has an edge to it ( like Orvieto ) with a touch of bitterness on the finish that's not pleasant, but doesn't detract too much from the wine. There is a little bit of cigar box action going on.

Over an hour into this wine now. It's a good wine. Not a great one. More of an old world style, compared to some other Rosso's i've been served lately, but that's fine. The bitterness is disappearing with more air and the wine is becoming enjoyable as a quaff-er too. I'd like to find it at a lower price than what I paid. At over $20, it's not a good QPR. I've found many good Rosso's under $20. Shop carefully, but it's a good food wine for the family on a weekend or weeknight. Decant it an hour before you serve it and you'll be happy with the buy.

  • This wine shows a pleasant combination of dried cherries, berries, and pomegranate on the nose, along with a persistent edge of dried violets.

It’s ripe and rich, with a supple and silky smooth palate. A dusty, almost suede-like tone accentuates the mild, subtle tannins. Dried floral tones, notes of dried berries, and a faintly rustic quality come together to create a very enjoyable, absolutely food friendly pour.

  • Florence & Tuscan Holiday; 5/9/2011-5/16/2011 (Florence & Tuscany): Popped and poured from a half bottle. Drank over 1.5 hrs

Nose: Bright red fruits with some black plums. A hint of vegetal notes with some cream

Taste: The fruit carries over to the palate with a nice helping of it. Not over the top, quite well balanced. Everything is in place but this wine was not made to impress but simply to enjoy. Went well with our lunch.

  • Delicious. Sweet floral notes on the nose, smooth and seamless on the palate...light but by no means hollow. Sweet plums on a very long finish.

  • Above-average rosso di Montalcino; nose has good floral and aromatic fruit with a tiny bit of licorice. Palate is decent, smooth. 88-89
