Last bottle might have been flawed? This one showed off much more up front. Juicy, just enough acidity, round soft tannins, dark cherries, some spice, enjoyable.

Beau toro nez complexe de mures, mesquite, bois et bleuets. En bouche tannins un peu assechant belle acidité qui rappelle la framboise,la framboise tien un bon bout sur la finale quand meme suprennemant longue pour un vin de ce prix

The miracle of Toro wines is that I can open them one night and they are still going 3-4 nights later, and they may be even better. Such was the case with this one, which was really hitting its stride after the 2nd day open. Some toasted oak with dominant dark fruits and an ample mouthfeel.

For my tastes hasn't really improved much since last time. Still slightly vegetal in the mid palate. To be fair, needs food, and on the plus side, I think it can stand up to fairly robust foods. I think this might actually go pretty well with pasta sauces that are tomato based with ample garlic.

Not bad. Decanted for half hour and continued to drink it out of the decanter. Thick, dark fruit wine. Complex, tertiar aromas. Nice oak influence. Drink it within two years.

This wine may simply be a victim of the year in which it was born. To understand one would need to try, for instance, a 2011 Teso La Monja Toro Almirez which simply rocks and is $17, only $3 more than we paid for this.
Must say that while this wine doesn't achieve the typical amazing QPR Spanish wines usually provide, it's better than most of your $14 bottles, no matter the varietal or the the country. Solid.

Great nose of greenery, smoke, some fruit. But on the palate this was disappointing. I'm not getting the big wine or tannins that others describe. Actually kind of wimpy and thin for a Toro. I'll wait 2 years before opening the next one to see if anything more has developed. Update: on second night, this had really filled out: silky tannins, dark fruits, wood were all bigger and more interesting. I'm upgrading my score a bit, but will still wait on the rest of these.

This wine is food friendly and paired especially well with our dinner of cheese ravioli and Bolognese sauce. The meat sauce counteracts the rough tannins.

Standard purple color for a tempranillo, but with aromas of raspberry, cherry, and sweet oak. The tannins are well integrated and silky, but the wine lacks much complexity and the finish is relatively simple, but with some length.

Decent international style Toro. Nose of Cherry frin tge fruit and espresso from the wood. A touch of something vegetal in the mid palate. Decent finish. Better with meat.

This was a very nice bottle of Tempranillo, delivering some good dark berries, coffee/espresso and vanilla notes. A bit young but approachable now, I will (try to) wait six months or so before opening my second bottle of this.

Superbe!
=> Wine Advocate: 92 points : ‘The 2006 Juan Rojo is 100% Tempranillo from 80+-year-old vines aged for 8 months in French oak. It delivers a superb bouquet of lightly roasted herbs, espresso, lavender, incense, black cherry, blackberry, and dark chocolate. This leads to a rich, succulent, seamless wine that manages to conceal enough structure for another 2-3 years of evolution. This lengthy effort will be at its best from 2012 to 2020. It is a killer value.’ WA #188, Avril 2010

Very young, needs decant. Dark fruits, firm structure, very tannic, a bit coarse, over extracted. Drink at second, tannins subside a little, not much improvement.

Very good wine. You wont find a nose like this but in Toro, creme brulee dominates here, some pencil, ink, and vainilla mixed with black fruit. Palate is great, tannins are there, acidity is fresh, and red fruit and spice in a lovely texture gives a lot of pleasure.

Robe bourgogne mauve. Sur la prune, bluet, anis, cerise et datte. Bel équilibre. Vin rond, facile d’approche. Bon RQP.

Aged out nicely. Needed a bit of a decant to eliminate sediment and soften the tannins

Dark fruits, prominent oak, some smoke, robust and full-bodied, way better with a little decanting, good acidity and very much a food wine.

Bueno pero inferior al promedio de los vinos de Toro. La añada no ayuda mucho. En mi opinión debe decantarse por lo menos una hora antes de beberse.
