Some serious funkiness blew off after 15-30 minutes. Alas, not leading to anything too interesting- red and black fruit on the nose. Pleasant fruit on a medium weight body. A nice wine with food - Cacio e Pepe homemade pasta - but a middling wine at this time.

Blackberries, meat, leather, earth, mint , spices and some pepper. Rather high in alcohol. Very typical notes of GSM blend. It has some layers of flavours but lack complexity. Medium(+) tannins and good acidity to keep flavours in check. Medium(+) finish.
It's quite pleasant now, but I am not sure if it will get significantly better with further aging.

Decanted for an hour. Drank with beef tenderloin. Better this time around then my scoring from July 2012. Age has helped it out. Aromas of dark fruit (plum and blackberry) and garrigue. Flavors follow with additions of some pepper. Good body and balance. med+ finish with spicy pepper notes. med+ tannins that went perfectly with the grilled beef. 90pts.

Decanted for 20 minutes through an aerator and then drank over the next two hours. Semi-opaque reddish-brown color. Earthy blackberry and plum, with hints of spice and red fruit, especially on the moderately long finish. Drinking at its peak now.

As in the past, this needs a bit of time to open up. Almost tossed it, then found it to be o.k. and simply over-priced for what it was, which was not bad, but certainly the very little brother/sister of Vieux Telegraph!

Cedar, Truffles and Dragonfruit on the nose. On the palate it was more rustic with bramble, sour cherry, cedar and oak. Finished a touch hot and woodsy but paired nicely with a good cigar. Drink now through 2015.

Really ripe and fresh, with lots of dark cherry, fig, licorice, spice, mineral and some apple juice notes. Built on a solid frame and a long finish make this a CDP worth a look.

I had this side by side with the La Crau and felt this was far superior- a complex, fruity nose that progressed in darkness from cherry to red raspberry to blackberry to end with a garrigue note, along with a creamy factor the whole time. All of the above and a bit of earth on the palate, lengthy finish and well integrated tannins.

Happy Hour at Cru (Cru Wine Bar, Denver, Colorado): Floral notes dominate the nose with some red fruit peaking through. Palate is smooth but doesn't come across with much complexity. Subtle fruit is the big player here, but not in a sexy way...more in a thin, depressing style. Disappointing.

Nice and light, not too complex but just fine with grilled Tbones

Lots of alcohol when first opened, but smoothed out well after 15 min in the glass. Cherry notes, not too complex, quite tasty.

Decanted 1 hr. Preping dinner when guests arrived so no detailed notes. Very nice but not overly complex. Drinking well now.

Compared to the 2008 Clos des Pape CdP, this was barely okay. Thin, uninteresting, but it is only $40. Would not buy again.

Helga's 7th Annual CDP Tasting (2008 Vintage CDPs Semi-Blind) (Atlanta, GA): Clean nose - some dirt, red fruits (raspberry / black cherry) on nose & palate - nose was better than palate. light body / acids / short finish. 86-88 range.
