mild but persistent reduction keeps me from a proper evaluation of the nose; similar evaluation on the palate. I could tell there was a lot going one including good acidity. Others found it very pleasurable. However to my palate too reduced to really appreciate. Suggest decanting.

Good to revisit this after 7 years. Grilled hazelnut, gunflint, almonds and leom curd on the nose and palate. It expresses all the Coche signature sensation with excellent density and complexity. Drinking superbly well now but it surely will age. 94+

00/08 pair. A clear common Coche thread with oodles of tell tale match stick and sweet mineral. The 08 is firing on all cylinders with serious concentration, buoyant fruit, chiseled complexity and a long finish. 00 is similar just in 4th gear in comparison and probably just past peak, at least on a relative basis.

Beautiful and complex bouquet with minerals and dry honey. On the palate firm and tight citrus acidity. Beautifully focused and a great length. Great future. 94 - 95+

Excellent - all of the reductive but crisp beauty of Coche with the natural fat and generosity of Meursault. Perfectly ripe fruit, a little nutty, smoke, brioche. A delight which will probably improve a little bit though it's fantastic now. 94-95

Geht in die Nußrichtung, hat aber nicht die Tiefe und Länge des Leflaive, trotzdem sehr speziell und lang. Eine animierende Salzigkeit, aber ein kleines Säureleck, der ihm ein wenig die Frische raubt. 93

Outrageously powerful and intense. Almost so much so it hurts. A bit exotic to be sure but plenty of Coche nose and acidity to give this lift. Very good.

This is a beautiful wine, piercing and penetrating with steely palate, great focus and hints of citrus to keep it even more interesting. Tasted grand cru to me. There wines are always good, but to accomplish this level of precision in 2008 is truly remarkable.

Mildly exotic fruits on the nose along with some flint and spice. In the mouth it is full and round with a dollop of almond butter and sappy orchard fruit flavours. It has the usual Coche chew to the finish and is a remarkably good village wine.

Pale straw. Attractive and well-integrated matchstick reduction is interwoven with white flower, white truffle, and crushed rock. Dense, concentrated, and intense with gobs of dry extract that doesn't overwhelm but offers incredible clarity and precision of minerality that extends across the palate and then lingers seemingly forever on the finish. Gripping but ripe acidity. This is still very young but as it is already showing gorgeous mature notes such as the truffle I wouldn't feel bad for drinking now. But best starting 2020.

Had this at lunch over approximately two hours. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Ripe citrus, peach and flowers. Toasted popcorn on the precise and long finish. Found this more elegant than powerful and while there were hints of the classic Coche matchstick nose I felt the wine was quite restrained. Likely could have used more air that unfortunately time did not allow today.

Slank og kjølig duft, syrlig og mineralsk, men noe dempet. Hissig syre, noe aprikos, sitrondrops og knasende mineralitet. Mektig konsentrasjon, middels fyldig. Flott, lang og særdeles syrlig finish.

Rich, citrusy and spicy nose, very lively with some flinty minerals. Medium acid, rich ripe flavors, lots of latent intensity that comes at you in waves of mineral laden flavor bursts. Long finish with a really exquisite mouth feel.

Popped and poured, intense flinty nose at first, followed by fresh citrus and stone fruit. Palate very slim yet intense, restrained yet with great complexity, very long finish with lots of minerals. Perhaps too young to enjoy its full glory but certainly a white with great potential.

Nose had the coche dury toasted nuts, honeysuckle, and tropical fruit. The palate was dense, intense, and long with good acidity. This will take at least 5-8 years to be a 94-95 wine. Excellent! 93+

Medium yellow color. This starts off slightly brooding on the nose, with peach, green apple, lemon curd, and minerals. Then it takes up with air and time, hitting this stratospheric, unctuous, compelling bouquet that compels your wrist to whip the wine around in the glass just to get another whiff of that seductive nose. But, at some point, you have to drink it. This wine is pure class, with punchy, piquant, and lush (it's paradoxical and uncanny, but it's true) apple, lemon curd, and spice notes that run into a wall of tangy acidity. It's like biting into some exotic yet oddly familiar fruit, which puts together flavors of things you like in a new way. Put another way, it's like a dish from a great chef that toys with your mind and preconceptions of flavor and flavor combinations. The finish just sails, juicy and almost saline in its savoriness. Then there's the overall texture: a wine of stunning power; I mean, real and true power that feels like it's punching you in the teeth. Simultaneously? It leaves nothing on your palate. It is weightless. You feel refreshed from drinking it. This is utterly superb. A+
Lemon-lime dominates the flavor profile of this quite young but approachable wine - astounding that it is only a village wine as drinks like a top 1er Cru. With time in the cellar, this will really shine.

Such a gorgeous beauty! Brilliant nose, brilliant palate, and brilliant finish. It's so balanced, gentle yet complex, rich yet subtle... I'm so obsessed in this village masterpiece by Mr. J F Coche Dury. Decant it if you want to drink it now.

Ridiculously young but a nice glimpse into a wine that will be quite brilliant at some stage of its life. There’s a whiff of matchstick and also the scent of white flowers, chalk and spice. In the mouth it is dense and chewy with amazing line. It is almost built like Valmur and it has so much clarity, latent power and focus. There’s an incredible amount of dry extract and the finish drives on for an eternity.

Another great wine from my Bucks night. The list was long but after a few more I get a little hazy with details. I will be the first to admit that I have only ever managed to taste a large handful of Coche and only over a couple of vintages, and am not as taken with them as many of my colleagues and friends are. Very good to great, sure, but top of the tree? Classic Meursault nose of ripe citrus and peach. smoky and fairly flashy oak that does not mask or detract from the fruit but adds another dimension (this is a very interesting feature of the wine and testament to the quality of fruit harvested). The first impression in the mouth is that of a wine that has been handled well in the winery but probably a little too much. There is great concentration and beautiful fruit depth that is held held in to a tight line by some lovely acid and tingly minerality, I just have to wonder if the wine would have been that little bit better if the winemaking had been just that little less obvious. Overall a very impressive wine.

(Mostly) Burgundy Dinners with Friends; 4/21/2022-4/22/2022 (Chicago, IL): Alongside the 2000. Lemon curd and almond butter with some rich apple and floral flourishes. Near Grand Cru density with very good length. Still very bright, this probably has further upside from here.
