This was delicious. In a very good place right now. Gorgeous nose. Notes of maturity, but buttressed by snappy fresh acids (typical of 2008). Nice fruit. Enjoyed this in a small 2008 Chevillon horizontal, which featured 3 of his big boys - the LSG, Vaucrains, and Cailles. Those wines were a step up, but the Bouss was no slouch either! And all 4 wines showed a family character that was very appealing. No hurry on these - 5 more years won't change a thing (at least not in any negative direction). But also no shame at all to drink now.

More like a 91.5 but we're splitting hairs. I thought this was a pleasant surprise. The 2008 acidity helped villages like NSG in that they feel livelier. Chevillon is the king of NSG and this bottle was super enjoyable tonight with some duck l'orange and chicken paillard. Nose was welcoming right out of the gate while the wine took 30-45 minutes to unfurl in the decanter. Not life changing but rather excellent for the $90 price I paid.

Nuits-Saint-Georges and Riesling - Q by Peter Chang (Q by Peter Chang - Bethesda, Maryland): Medium expressive nose displaying ripe slightly dry black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, strong sous bois, button mushroom, cinnamon, roasted nuts and earth. Medium concentration, subtle black fruit, cool and lean, strong acidity, earthy mineral, harsh tannins and a medium long black fruit driven finish. Once again, bitter and masculine.

Mature wines (Sindre): Concentrated deep nose of juicy bright fruit, perfume, and some metal shavings. Grippy dry on the palate. Bright red fruit. Strawberries and raspberries.

Brought to a friends, shared over several hours, no formal notes taken. This was purchased years ago for a song when there was a distributor change. Wish now I had picked up more. This was everything you want in a 10 year old red burg: dark red fruit, forest floor, baking spices, nice mineral backbone, long finish and evolved over the night. Dang nice.

Opened about 45 minutes before dinner and took a quick pour while slow oxing the btl. Semi tanslucent ruby red color with light bricking on rim. The acidity was a bit out front at first and 1st whiffs had some barnyard but it didn't take long for this to clean up and smooth out beautifully in the glass. As this fleshed out dark raspberry, mineral, spice, earth a level of underbrush emerged. Just entering prime drinking and much better than my 1st btl back in Feb 2014. Pretty much classic Chevillon / NSG. I think this vineyard likely tends to show a little less refinement than some plots in the Chevillon portfolio but still is an excellent terroir driven NSG in every way and showing plenty of depth. Terrific tonight with Nita's homemade pizza with the kids and the two grand boys.

En doft med körsbär, hallon, violer, stendamm, skogsmark och viss rökighet. I smaken samma körsbär och hallon som i doften, lite lakrits och en aning rostade toner. Väldigt bra balans och struktur med långt och fint avslut.

Another great NSG from Chevillon. 2008 proves itself again. Nailed this blind as 2008 and NSG. Nose with earth, pine needles, some herbs, flowers underneath, stony smoke, gunpowder, meaty & spicy Pinot cherries. On the palate this shows very fine, if displaying a somewhat coarse structure, with cherries, raspberries, very fine acidity and long and deep finish. Good backbone and fruit. I loved this. PnP. Seems to be at an awkward stage. Not closed but also not all together. A little bit more of a rough ride than other '08 Chevillons I've had in the last year. This seemed more NSG rustic and in need of time. Also larger scaled than the Chaignots. A late sip, hours, later showed more tanic still and closing. Leave alone for at least 3-5yrs?

Elegant nose, floral, high toned fruit, matchbox. Delicate and relatively smooth on the palate, quite nice. Just a touch too acidic for me which mars the balance, although much less so than many other 2008s.

Color cardenalicio. Nariz cruda, a caza, aromática pero rústica para una 08. Pólvora. Quizás violetas. Amaderada de todas formas. En boca, bien tánica, con un final ácido. No merece su estatus de primer cru.

Wine tasted blind. [The wine tasted immediately before this was also tasted blind and turned out to be the Chevillon Nuits Saint George from the same vintage. We were tasting blind in a line up of seven red burgundies.]
Color is clear, medium, ruby.
Nose is clear, medium intensity, darker fuller fruit than the wine before. But slighter in its intensity than the previous wine. But does show spice, barrel and earth notes. Complex.
Palate is dry, medium alc.. Medium + acidity, medium + tannin, medium body, medium flavor. Flavor follows through on the palate from the nose.
Overall this is very good wine at least, must be outstanding. It is youthful. It is everything of the last one but more, and more youthful. If the last wine was $80 I guess I have to unfortunately pay more for this one. Will develop further, need some in my cellar.
Guess:France, Burgundy, Cote d’Or
Chevillon NSG Bousselots

In the typical big style of Chevillon. Certainly not sloppy though with wonderful Pinot spice notes and body. Needs time, but not that much time. After 6 hours it was drinking beautifully. So maybe just a year more in bottle.

Blind. Dark, not entirely clear. Very much a natural wine/oxidized. Dark/blue berries. High acidity and tannin, good length. Surely a faulty bottle.

Darker, meaty cherry, meatier, some clay or iron, Burgundy northern; firm, meaty, darker, nice but needs more time at this phase.
