Mature PN nose. Spice, super bright red cherries and the slightest hint of animal and sous bois. Medium-bodied and bright. Still fresh and inviting, this is fully mature but shows no signs of decline! Delicious! 90

Drank at Vt. Quite light. Lots of tart red cherries, a bit of earth & some black pepper. Nose exudes red cherries and a bit of bubble gum. Not particularly complex or memorable.

Tight and angular out of the gate. After 3-4 hours slow ox it's hitting its stride with aromas of cherries, dusty earth, and cedar spice. Great balance on entry with a dominant flavor of red cherries. The ripe cherry flavor becomes more concentrated through the mid-palate and then finishes with some gentle tannins reminiscent of cherry stones. I think this still has a few years ahead of it.

Hmmm. I wonder if this is fading already. I wouldn't expect so. Opened this on Friday night and didn't take any formal notes, but thought it was a little flabby. A couple of days in the fridge hasn't helped. Still some pretty red berry flavors with earth and interesting hints of licorice, but the acidity is just gone.

Two from Willamette Valley, OR. 2008 Scott Paul "La Paulee." Stelvin or screwcap closeure. 13.1 % alcohol by volume. Grapes include blocks from Maresh, Ribbon Ridge, and Momtazi Vineyards. Dark purple-red color; nearly opaque. My reaction to yellow pine pollen made it difficult to assess aromas. When it does penetrate the congested nose, a cherry perfume enters the nostrils. The flavors suggest both cherries and plumskins. Am I stretching to find a subtle hint of pine needles or is that really present? Not sure. Smooth, elegant presentation. On the tart spectrum but not off-putting. Midweight but with a lingering, pleasant finish. One of the better Pinots of recent months for me. Refreshing to see the abv around 13% instead of over 14%. This wine is a winner. The first evening I had this with leftover chicken, artichoke and seedless grape salad with poppyseed dressing. The second evening I paired it with breaded veal scallopini. I have two of the 2009 vintage La Paulee and at least one 2010.
2008 Adelsheim Pinot Noir. 13.3% abv. Label says crop levels are kept low. Very dark opaque purple color. Dark berries and pine forest on the nose are echoed on the palate. A suitable amount of acid to keep it fresh. Well made with a deft touch. This paired well the second evening with bites of Manchego and Cheshire cheese pre-dinner.

Starting to drink well for an opening price point blend. The bouquet is still young energetic and a strong single berry tone with strong hints of tobacco. The taste is still a little tart even after a days decanting with strong berry and plum flavors. The wine is full of a warm fruit laden Oregon summer and delightful enough on a winters evening to bring a smile to your face !

Smells wonderful, pie cherries mingle with fresher flavors, pomegranate and raspberries, on the nose. The palate is a mouthful of fresh red fruit, great acidity and balanced tannin. The finish ends with just a bit of tart fruit and richness to the fruit. Medium finish. The acidity here is refreshing. Drinking great now and in no rush to drink.

This bottle was in a good place. Good quality pinot fruit in a fuller style that is reflective of the 2008 vintage in Oregon. It was well balanced with good acidity and nice finish. Definitely for those who like the riper style of pinot but not as big as the typical California pinots. 89+

Bright ruby with a sweet red fruit nose. Sweet red cherry and red raspberry with a full body, light tannins and a medium finish. The harshness noticed in a bottle 10 months ago is now resolved. Perfectly adequate everyday pinot.

Semi translucent garnet color with a nose of black cherry and forrest floor. Light to medium bodied mouth feel with subtle black cherry and green blueberry in the party. Subtle tannins with some leather notes and a medium finish. I prefer medium to full bodied pinot but this didn't come up to its rep. I will give it another try on day two to see if some time and air helped it develop.

Very well balanced pinot. Tannins are perfect giving just a slight coffee twang on the side of the tongue. Good pinot nose. Color is clean, you can see through the glass. A very complex wine that finishes without an overly sweet mouthfeel. Great price point for this bottle.

A nice cranberry color, very fine translucent wine. A nose of raspberry, forest floor, esters. The mouth feel is light but with a solid structure, strawberry fruit, acid and a light tannic finish. A solid performer as usual for Adelsheim, looking forward to the reserves. 88 growing on me.

375ml. Color dark ruby, medium body. Pretty Pinot bouquet of ripe strawberries, dark cherries, rhubarb, sassafras and forest floor notes. Nice entry of dark fruits of moderate depth, spice, and earth. Good balance, Moderate acid, soft and approachable tannins. Overall a lovely Pinot from a heritage producer in a great vintage, enjoyed in an open air market with an assorted cheese plate. This left me curious and craving the '08 Elizabeth's Reserve. Good value.

Very nice well balance wine. The color is light and translucent, with an alluring bouquet. It has a the wonderful aromas a cherries and red berries on the nose with a hint of earth/forest in the background (pleasant, not green). It has a great mouth feel, very inviting with a nice open cherry/floral/berry essence without being overly sweet or jam. The finish is medium to long with just the right length to let you enjoy it and look forward to your next sip. Will by buy more if I can.

Unfortunate price ($27.39) for a very nice, everday Pinot that would be an "Outstanding" for <$20, but gets downgraded for its pricetag closer to $30. I expect much more from a Willamette Pinot Noir at this price.

2008 Oregon Pinot Noir ($20 to $40, mostly): This has been on "sale" around town for $26 and this was the best showing I have had yet for this bottle. Ruby/purple in color. The nose has a bit of funk to it and seems to be early maturing. Also some cherries. Great texture. Slight cough syrup note on this finish. This has already begun to show its layers and while I don't think it makes old bones, this bottle was very good.

Nice nose of Cherries and some raspberry and a touch of peas. On the palate this carries a darker flavor and has a fresh raspberry and perhaps cracker note to accompany a touch of earth and green. This is very nice and a bargain at the pricepoint of $20.

This wine is a poster child for why I think 2008 Oregon Pinot Noir is the most over-rated vintage in recent memory. Starts off with twangy/green/stemmy aromas. Reveals a bit of fruit on the palate but ultimately falls flat. Lacks acidity. It may have some aftertaste but lacks finish. I can find a nice red Burgundy for under $30. This wine retails in the upper $20s and presents a poor value to the consumer. If this is the best Oregon Pinot Noir has to offer I'm not buying.

Big cherry nose. Smooth tasting wine that we enjoyed with roasted chicken breast with a cranberry stuffing. Short, smooth, refreshing finish and real good for a $20 Oregon Pinot. Will buy a few more to see how this develops over next year or so.

We purchased this based on the NYTimes article by Asimov. Our overall sense is that he's right, this was an excellent wine. I'm not a huge fan of Pinot Noir, so my sense may be a bit off relative to those that prefer this style. Still, from my lower sense of Pinot Noir styles, this is a winner. It reminded us of blueberries, cherries and apples. The traditional taste would be more raspberries and blackberries and some of that was present as well. The overall texture is smooth and there's a refreshingly happy acid tartness that makes if feel fruity and full at the same time. The nose is apple, vanilla and strawberry. Asimov called it "dry and subtle with lively high toned fruit flavors and good structure". This was 'on-sale' at Wells for the regular price listed in the NYTimes article ($26)

Nice medium bodied Pinot Noir. Has the traditional Pinot spicy nose and was slightly harsh but good acidity when opened. Smoothed out as it breathed. I am not sure this will improve much in the bottle as others note, but I will get a couple bottles and give that a try.

Medium bodied, very nicely balanced with mouthfuls of fruit and good acidity. Definitely improves the longer it is open. Drinkable now, but a year or two in the bottle should help the wine come together even nicer.

Strawberries rather than the usual Oregon pinot cherries. Mouthfeel is like a swig of cream, just what I look for. Hint of toffee, check. Needed time to breathe, possibly at the 'better on day 2' stage right now. Needs time to come together in the bottle. Will be very good in 2 years, graded on that potential... 2012 maybe?

DAY 2. really soft and supple palate, plein with clarity of flavor. top side of light body, almost medium body. cherry fruit, classic old world minerality strewn on a pane of glass. a very quiet stem note melded into a really approachable structured profile. Very confident wine.

Distinct lavender and violet tones dominate the nose. Red berries and pomegranate show through, fading into toasty notes of mocha and caramel. A spin in the glass concentrates these aromas much more, showing a smokiness, a gamey quality, and a faintly sanguine tone.
Ripe and intense, there is a clearly New World quality to this wine, but it also shows a clean refinement to its creamy fullness. The same violets and lavender from the nose move into delicate, ripe red fruit. There is an impressive smoothness to the wine and the clarity of the fruit is like liquid gemstones. Nicely done, with a lasting cola-like finish, this is an impressive and easily enjoyable wine.
PnP and had with a hangar steak at Huntley Tavern. Elegant wine, red fruit with a hint of floral (violets?) tones as well.Niice acidity, light bodied. With maybe a hint of earth and dirt to it. Well made wine that pares well with food, but not right in my palate sweet spot. Probably would have went far better with the Pork Loin that we originally ordered but was sold out.

Shared one last night with my friends who wanted to know about the 2008 Oregon Pinot Noir vintage, and I agree with everything gripNsip said below. This wine has the chops to be something really special after it has had time to come together, the acid was still overwhelming the fruit and oak. I'll cellar the other two bottles I bought for another couple of years, and will add to my cellar when I find this at an attractive price.

Pretty typical for an 08 Oregon wine and very delicious. (2008 was SO good) The fullness of the flavor on this wine is awesome, the structure and flavor still needs some time to integrate though but I can see this wine aging beautifully. An interesting blend of red fruit and plums on the nose and palate, light oak detectable on both nose and palate. A very round wine with great length and super enjoyable. If I had some I'd lay it down for a year or two to let things fully come together, although I have no problem with how it is now, this has the stuffing to be increase a couple of points with a bit of age.

Adelsheim Tasting (Binny's on Clark - Chicago, IL): A nice wine. Funky classic Oregon pinot qualities. Shroomy, forest floor. A light plush strawberry and maraschino cherry play. A little bit of red flowers. Nicely structured palate. Great acid but still velvety mouth feel. Really good. Showing better than the Elizabeth's Reserve tasted just after.

2008 Scott Paul "La Paulee." Stelvin or screwcap closeure. 13.1 % alcohol by volume. Grapes include blocks from Maresh, Ribbon Ridge, and Momtazi Vineyards. Dark purple-red color; nearly opaque.

Cherry and red berries. Soft and elegant in the mouth. Nicely balance with fine tannins and a refreshing finish.

Very pleasant easy drinking wine. Light body, nice bright fruit, not a lot in the finish. But I kept wanting more (had to stop myself so I can make it to work tomorrow :-). Refreshing and tasty. I would definitely buy again.

Smooth, bright fruit including plums and cherry on opening. Faded fast, but a real value @ $20

Nice nose of Cherries and some raspberry and a touch of peas. On the palate this carries a darker flavor and has a fresh raspberry and perhaps cracker note to accompany a touch of earth and green. This is very nice and a bargain at the pricepoint of $20.

Rasberry and cinnamon. Medium bodied and finish. Not terribly interesting. Fruit flavors quickly die.

Medium ruby, subtle ripe red fruit nose. Sour and tart cherries, black currants, cola, white pepper with a lemony edge. Light tannins, medium finish. Needs a bit of time, otherwise is a bit harsh.

Nose is fragrant with spice box (cinnamon & nutmeg). Bright fruit, with Jolly Rancher cherry that evolved into blueberry over the course of the bottle. Short, short finish.
