  • Deep inky color.
Black cherry and plum on the nose.
Black cherry, currant, plum fruits, a bit of leather. Still plenty of fruit.
Strong tannins following the fruit, with a somewhat peppery finish.

Decanting for 45 minutes softened the tannins and dry finish, but there is is not a lot of fruit structure left in the finish.
Held up well for its age.

  • Powerful and balanced, but ultimately too big for me. A bit closed at first, the wine opened with a mixture of judicious fruit and a firm tartness edged with something like a roasted red pepper that soared above all like a baroque trumpet call before the wonderful finish. I enjoyed the firm, complex structure and the restrained fruit, but this wine demanded too much attention and fought with the food for dominance rather than complement it.

  • Dark, thick, almost black in color; a peppery nose with herbs and blackberry fruit; even on day three, still going strong with gobs of Jammu blackberry fruit and vanilla tones; a creamy, ripe style of petite.
