Deep inky color. Black cherry and plum on the nose. Black cherry, currant, plum fruits, a bit of leather. Still plenty of fruit. Strong tannins following the fruit, with a somewhat peppery finish.
Decanting for 45 minutes softened the tannins and dry finish, but there is is not a lot of fruit structure left in the finish. Held up well for its age.

Powerful and balanced, but ultimately too big for me. A bit closed at first, the wine opened with a mixture of judicious fruit and a firm tartness edged with something like a roasted red pepper that soared above all like a baroque trumpet call before the wonderful finish. I enjoyed the firm, complex structure and the restrained fruit, but this wine demanded too much attention and fought with the food for dominance rather than complement it.

Dark, thick, almost black in color; a peppery nose with herbs and blackberry fruit; even on day three, still going strong with gobs of Jammu blackberry fruit and vanilla tones; a creamy, ripe style of petite.
