Burgundy lunch at San Shu Gong: Similarly bricking in colour to the Bertheau 08. The wine was a little rustic but still elegant that made me think of CdN incorrectly. Was thinking MSD with the blue fruits or Gevrey with meatiness, but someone managed to guess Pommard impressively. This producer gets a bad rep for oak use but it was well-integrated here.

Can’t help feeling I drank this about 10 years too soon. Still tannic. Got some chocolate on the nose and was certainly better after an hour in the decanter.

Notes of red fruits, balsamic and black truffle, hints of earth and bay leaf emerge with aeration. Beautifully balanced, elegant; acidity providing good delineation and grip. Long and savory finish. Another fine showing!
