Full bodied from aging. Fruits more muted than before. Still somewhat intense with sour cherry on the finish. Past prime but never got into a good balance as the 06.

Nice bottle, but the fruit seems to be fading, despite being stored at 56 degrees. Dark fruit, with black cherry and plenty of tannin. Medium finish with some tertiary development with a decant. A great deal for the $14 I paid, but if I had any more, I'd be drinking sooner than later. 90-91

These were delicious but they are LONG GONE. I recall very good red and black fruits, some chocolates, a little tannins, delicious with food. (We had 1 or 2 bottles at the Afghan Kebab house and they LOVED the meat dishes there). We paid $13.33 / bottle on close-out. Excellent QPR for that price. Too bad this winery went out of business.

Informal notes, but loads of black fruit, spice and oak(!). Full bodied with medium tannin and medium acidity. Medium finish with a bite of alcoholic heat. This was opened several hours and showed no signs of decline, and the half glass I had in the fridge seemed to smooth out, with no oxidation, but still had the heat. Killer qpr. I'll sit on my last bottle for a while. 91+

Quite good, attractively (and aggressively) oaked, with very dark flavors of blackberry, black plum, asphalt, dark chocolate, and some permanent marker. Full-bodied, modern, and typical of Washington State. Got it for $13 and it was well worth that price.

This is quite a wine for the discount pricing. Very true to WA Bordeaux blends in my opinion, this has very nice fruit on the nose with an overall sense of restraint - by that I mean that the acid is prevalent, the fruit is ripe but not over the top and just the slightest on the vegetal side. I drank this casually on it's own but would really like to try this with some meat. It's not a perfect wine - the finish is a bit lacking, but it's just killer for the price.

Basically red in color with a medium depth. Floral on the nose but a low aroma intensity. The body is medium to medium/full with lively acidity and medium tannins. Muted flavors of raspberry and cranberry with a medium finish. Overall smooth but lacked any depth.

This is very nice. Nose of red fruit, creme brulee and oak. P: Much more open than the nose. Red fruit, bright cherry, spice, berry cobbler. Medium body with integrated tannins and balanced acidity. F: Medium with moderate fruit and oak on the back end. This really performs well for the price point. 91+

Very nice surprise. Great fruit forward nose of red berries and cherries. palate is juicy! the acidity from the sangiovese is a wonderful complement to the cabs. Pretty balance with a medium finish. excellent QPR.

A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark black purple in color. A full bodied red blend with black cherry, tar and herbs with a spicy long finish, very good QPR, and a cool label. WWW.WINELX.COM

Tasty, but little depth. It's hard to find decent under $20 cab, but WL had this on a recent Cinderella offer, so had to give this a shot. Nice nose, showing some bright red fruit (blend is actually 80% cab, 5% cab franc, 15% sangio). Juicy red fruit carried through on the front end, almost exploding in the mouth to the point that I had to focus to figure out what seemed to be a shallowness on the mid to back end. Took a few sips to confirm that, but this clearly lacks depth and finish. That said, for sub-$20 you can really enjoy this wine if you like expressive juicy fruit and don't need a lingering finish. Bordeaux styled.

ZanZibar Cellars 2008 Barrel Tasting Event (Clark-Lewis Restaurant, Portland, OR): Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese from several Columbia (possibly all Yakima) Valley vineyards. Ziad said this wine had just been bottled 3 days prior, so we expected some serious bottle shock and tightness of flavor. With some swirling, the fruit emerged nicely, and was quite flavorful. No evidence, that I could detect, of bottle shock, or if so, this will be one HELL of a wine once it settles! Tart cherries, and even more structured than the Sandra. Brightly acidic as well, showing the high percentage of Sangiovese in the blend. Finish has a bit of pepper, but mostly cherry fruit.

Best bottle to date. More balanced and good with food. Dark fruits, full-bodied and acidity is more restrained.

Better than last bottle. Still lots of acidity but better balance. Used aervana and decanter. Suggest decanting for a couple of hours before serving.

Not as good as the 06. Lots of burnt toast with black fruits, sour chery and intensity on the finish. Drink with food.

Needs time or a long decant. Very primary and oaky.

Tons of oak and not enough fruit to support it. This could need some time, but right now, it was simply too over the top. 87-88

Good for quaffing, but not too much going on in this one. Standard berry fruit flavors keep it simple.
